Position Summary:
The LA Phil Creative Services team is looking for a Senior Designer. The Senior Designer is an instrumental member of the team and will conceptualize and design marketing materials in support of the LA Phil’s 300+ events, and institutional initiatives across our venues and brands—Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl, The Ford, and YOLA. They will lead campaigns, and create bespoke festival and concert graphics for our dynamic musical offerings with a focus on orchestral programming. Their work should reflect a spirit of innovation and communicate the brand to a variety of constituents. This position requires a flexible attitude and an ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to shifting industry dynamics.
Responsibilities:- Manage the design and development of marketing assets from concept to completion for needs across organization in a collaborative team environment
- Create thoughtful, compelling, and strategic design solutions for use in multiplatform marketing efforts, with a focus on season campaigns, programming, and all institutional initiatives
- Proven ability to translate complex ideas into compelling visual narratives and user experiences
- Produce a high volume of assets, including but not limited to: brochures, postcards, print and digital advertisements, digital and social media assets, invitations, packaging, stationery, environmental signage, out-of-home advertising, and internal presentations
- Implement brand strategy across platforms while integrating fresh creative ideas, expanding the visual language as needed
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple cross-departmental and cross-venue teams, providing useful creative guidance in an enthusiastic and inspiring manner
- Oversee asset libraries and photography shoots for Creative Services
- Other duties: Color-correct and resize imagery; attend press checks as needed
Requirements:- 5-8 years of applied design experience, including print, digital, direct mail, and environmental;
in-depth knowledge of production processes in both print and digital media required
- A dynamic design portfolio, demonstrating an excellent sense of typography, layout, web and digital design principles
- Expert knowledge of industry-standard design tools and software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma)
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and present effectively across all management levels
- Adept at handling multiple projects and constantly shifting priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Capable of synthesizing and incorporating feedback from a variety of sources
- Exceptional attention to detail even while working under strict timelines
- High level of self-motivation and problem solving
- A culture consumer with a passion and curiosity for all genres of music
- Dedication and commitment to engage in and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the staff, vendors, and within interactions with the surrounding community is a must
