Senior Developer - HP NonStop / Tandem - Remote

Were hiring a Senior HP NonStop (Tandem) Developer to provide development, maintenance, and production support for a mission-critical financial application built on HPE NonStop technology. Youll play a key role in ensuring system stability, performance, and feature evolution for an application that underpins core dealing and accounting functions.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep experience in SCOBOL, COBOL85, and the HP NonStop (Tandem) ecosystem, with responsibilities spanning incident management, batch job monitoring, and enhancement delivery in a highly reliable environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide application support and maintenance for core SCOBOL, COBOL85, and Pathway-based components, ensuring stability and timely issue resolution
• Investigate and resolve defects across batch and online processing environments, applying structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Monitor and manage batch workloads, ensuring successful completion of intra-day and overnight cycles with minimal disruption to business operations
• Deliver system enhancements and feature updates, extending existing functionality to meet evolving business requirements
• Support application integrations via MQ and CONNECT:DIRECT, maintaining efficient and secure data transfer across connected systems
• Develop and tune ENSCRIBE databases and ENFORM reports to enhance performance, reporting accuracy, and data integrity
• Leverage TMF for transaction control, consistency, and recovery across distributed environments
• Administer and optimise Pathway applications, ensuring reliable operation and scalable performance
• Utilise HPE NonStop / Tandem utilities (FUP, TEDIT, PERUSE, etc.) for diagnostics, maintenance, and operational efficiency
• Maintain clear and current technical documentation for all changes and enhancements
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring, supporting continuity of expertise across teams
• Promote and enforce best practices in coding standards, structured testing, and deployment discipline

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong hands-on experience with SCOBOL and COBOL85 programming on HP NonStop (Tandem) systems
• Proven expertise in ENSCRIBE, ENFORM, Pathway, and TMF
• Proficient with HPE NonStop / Tandem utilities including FUP, TEDIT, and PERUSE
• Solid understanding of MQ and CONNECT:DIRECT for application integration
• Experience supporting mission-critical, 24x7 financial or transaction systems
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with strong attention to detail
• Confident communicator able to operate in client-facing consulting environments
