Senior Director of U. S. Marketing

Our Senior Director of U.S. Marketing will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution of all marketing across our U.S. based cinemas which operate under three brands (Angelika Film Center, Consolidated Theatres (Hawaii) and Reading Cinemas). You will be responsible for developing innovative comprehensive marketing, PR, digital and social media strategies that drive admissions to our cinemas and brand affinity. This role presents a unique opportunity to re-shape our marketing approach at a pivotal time in the entertainment industry.

Our ideal candidate would have a passion for movies and the cinematic experience and is a storyteller with extensive knowledge of content marketing and digital and social media strategies.

Leading a marketing team of seven employees across New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and Honolulu, this is a hands-on leadership role that requires strategic thinking, executive presence, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to dive into the details and execute when necessary.

The role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Based on the candidates, the position will be based in either New York City or Los Angeles. The role is not remote and will require commitment to a five-day in office work week.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth

  • Spearhead the strategic vision and creative execution of marketing to increase ticket sales and maximize revenue across all U.S. Cinemas, with an emphasis on generating admissions to a variety of content programming, including commercial films, specialty films, alternative content and signature series. Revenue maximization involves sales of F&B, Private Rentals/Screenings, Gift Cards, Content Partnerships and Loyalty Programs.
  • Build strategies to exceed existing KPIs including seat occupancy, Average Ticket Price, F&B spend per head, email/social/SEO conversion and ROI on marketing spend.
  • Oversee data-driven insight generation to understand audience behavior, market trends, and growth opportunities.
  • Oversee and improve a robust social marketing function, ensuring an optimal, cost-effective use of in-house and agency resources.
  • Ensure the delivery of ad campaigns across diverse placements, including print, digital boards, trailers, social media, and other relevant channels.
  • Lead the in-house creative team by setting design strategy and brand guidelines, delivering creative assets on time and maintaining brand consistency.
  • Explore and seek new revenue streams through creative ideas and offerings.
  • To implement cohesive campaigns, collaborate with cross-functional teams: Programming, Cinema Operations, F&B and IT.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide senior-level cross-functional leadership in support of marketing and programming initiatives, including oversight of campaign execution, content launches, special events, and promotional calendars.
  • Partner closely with Programming, Cinema Operations, F&B, IT and Creative teams to ensure coordinated messaging, aligned priorities, and timely execution across all platforms.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional meetings related to marketing campaigns and programming priorities, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Support and guide ad hoc initiatives that drive audience engagement, content promotion, and brand growth, while maintaining consistency with strategic marketing goals.

Stakeholder Management

  • Create systems to efficiently address and resolve guest service issues related to marketing, loyalty programs and ticketing, as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure a seamless guest experience across all guest-facing platforms.
  • Supervise and support local marketing team members. Provide strategic direction and project oversight to ensure timely execution of deliverables.
  • Serve as primary contact for content distributor marketing teams.
  • Liaise and maintain strong relationships with external groups (advertising/PR agencies, F&B partners, media buyers, industry associations, SEO teams, and content providers) and provide guidance to ensure alignment with marketing goals. .

Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze guest behavior, email performance, sales data, and digital and social campaign outcomes.
  • Use data insights to refine strategies and optimize ROI across all marketing channels.

U.S. Property Division

  • Assist the U.S. Property team, which includes two New York City Off Broadway theaters, develop stronger marketing presence with the establishment of synergistic cross marketing.
  • Assist in digital and social campaigns for U.S. based real estate assets.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to special projects and evolving marketing initiatives as needed to support marketing operations, audience development, and overall company objectives.

Skills & Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 15+ years of entertainment marketing experience, with theatrical experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Qualifications

  • Strong track record leading creative and marketing teams
  • Expert knowledge of marketing campaign management with limited budgets across various platforms, including digital, social, SEO, PPC, and traditional channels, including campaign oversight, audience targeting, and brand storytelling.
  • Data-driven mindset with excellent analytical and research skills; able to track performance metrics, interpret trends, and adjust strategy to optimize results.
  • Exceptional communication, copywriting, and proofreading skills with the ability to maintain brand consistency across all channels and audiences.
  • Resilience in high-pressure environments with ability to pivot quickly based on business needs
  • Demonstrate the ability to deliver innovative, creative solutions to complex marketing challenges, ensuring strategic alignment and impact
  • High proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, MailChimp, CMS, Vista, Meta Business Suite, and Microsoft 365; comfortable with project management and collaboration tools such as Asana, Google Workspace, and Teams.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time exempt salaried position with an anticipated salary range of $100,000 - $150,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Employees in this role are eligible for the company’s incentive program and comprehensive benefits package.
