Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical & Controls Field Service Engineer to join our team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will provide expert field service support for drilling rig electrical systems, AC drive systems, PLC controls, and SCR systems across land and offshore drilling operations throughout Saudi Arabia and the GCC region.

This position is intended for a seasoned professional capable of independently commissioning, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and optimizing complex drilling rig control systems. The successful candidate will also serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, conducting rig health assessments, mentoring rig personnel, and helping customers maximize equipment reliability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair drilling rig electrical, drive, and control systems.
• Provide field support for both land and offshore drilling operations.
• Perform advanced diagnostics and fault finding on ABB and Yaskawa AC drive systems.
• Support and troubleshoot Ross Hill SCR systems and associated rig electrical equipment.
• Perform PLC troubleshooting, programming, software modifications, commissioning, and system optimization.
• Support Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC-based drilling control systems.
• Conduct rig health checks and system assessments, identifying reliability risks and recommending corrective actions.
• Support rig upgrades, modernization projects, and control system retrofits.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, automation, and control system failures in operational drilling environments.
• Prepare detailed service reports, technical documentation, and root cause failure analyses.
• Deliver technical training and mentoring to customer maintenance and operations personnel.
• Build strong customer relationships and serve as a trusted technical resource during drilling operations.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company and customer HSE requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on field service experience supporting drilling rig electrical and control systems.
• Extensive experience working on both land and offshore drilling rigs.
• Expert knowledge of ABB and Yaskawa AC drive systems, including commissioning, troubleshooting, tuning, maintenance, and repair.
• Extensive experience with Ross Hill SCR systems and drilling rig power control equipment.
• Expert experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC systems, including programming and troubleshooting.
• Expert understanding of drilling rig electrical systems, power generation, distribution, motor controls, and automation systems.
• Proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in demanding field environments.
• Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with rig crews, maintenance personnel, and management teams.
• Fluent spoken and written English is required.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively to customer locations throughout Saudi Arabia and the GCC region.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience performing rig audits, health assessments, and reliability improvement programs.
• Experience with drilling rig control system upgrades and modernization projects.
• Familiarity with industrial communication networks and integrated rig automation systems.
• Experience mentoring customer maintenance personnel and junior field engineers.
• Previous experience supporting major drilling contractors and offshore drilling operations.
