THE POSITION

The Senior Editorial & Amplification Manager leads the strategic planning, creation, and amplification of editorial content across FIFA’s owned and operated platforms. With a particular focus on newsroom and social media operations, the role ensures that all FIFA communications reflect consistency, impact, and alignment with the organisation’s global reputation priorities. Operating within the Editorial & Amplification department, this position also supports a multimedia-first approach, oversees cross-platform content delivery, and plays a key role in editorial governance, training, and content distribution to third-party channels.
The Senior Editorial & Amplification Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating editorial workflows across the newsroom and social pillars of the department – with a supporting function for multimedia. The role ensures that content operations function efficiently across time zones, adhering to the highest editorial standards while enhancing FIFA’s visibility and reputation through strategic amplification and cross-divisional collaboration.
These are your key tasks:
  • Lead and coordinate editorial operations across the newsroom, social, and multimedia pillars, ensuring seamless, 24/7 content delivery across time zones
  • Drive strategic content planning and amplification, ensuring all editorial outputs strengthen FIFA’s reputation and align with the organisation’s communications priorities
  • Oversee and promote a multimedia-first approach, optimising content for multiple platforms and formats to maximise reach and engagement
  • Ensure editorial excellence and governance through consistent application of tone, standards, training, and the effective use of content distribution and syndication channels
  • Lead the organisation of editorial content across owned and operated channels, ensuring coherent coordination between the newsroom, social, and multimedia pillars
  • Oversee the full content production cycle – from commissioning to publishing – across multiple geographical zones, ensuring 24/7 newsroom operations
  • Provide strategic oversight of editorial outputs, maintaining consistent quality, accuracy, and relevance
  • Develop and implement amplification strategies ensuring FIFA content reaches target external audiences through syndication and third-party partnerships
  • Align amplification efforts with strategic communication priorities and maintain regular coordination with the Head of Editorial & Amplification
  • Ensure team members are well-trained in FIFA’s editorial tools and management systems including the FIFA Content Management System, the FIFA Digital Hub and editorial planning services
  • Continuously review and propose improvements to digital tools and workflows, fostering efficiency and innovation
  • Oversee tagging, archival, and library systems for all relevant multimedia content
  • Contribute to the Editorial Board by providing strategic guidance on content priorities, cross-divisional alignment, and storytelling frameworks
  • Advocate a multimedia-first approach, ensuring editorial planning integrates strong briefs and multi-platform content strategies
  • Support special campaigns and projects, ensuring alignment between creative content and FIFA’s communications goals
  • In collaboration with product development colleagues, oversee and enhance the relevant sections on FIFA.com, ensuring up-to-date, multilingual content coherence and alignment
  • Manage FIFA’s institutional social media channels, coordinating agency partners to ensure effective cross-promotion and performance
  • Support senior management in organising, briefing, preparing and delivering speeches, key messages, and digital assets for major FIFA events
  • Oversee production timelines and ensure multilingual, multimedia assets are prepared and delivered punctually
  • Serve as a central coordination point between the Communications Division, internal stakeholders, and external creative partners
  • Manage editorial delivery to maintain a balanced focus between input (briefing and planning) and output (creation, publishing, amplification)
  • Enforce consistent application of all content style guides to maintain editorial integrity, tone, and brand values
  • Maintain a robust editorial back-office operation covering production administration, travel planning, and monthly team deliverables
  • Facilitate decision-making through analytics, reporting, and continuous evaluation of amplification performance

The specific competencies we require for this position are:
  • Proven experience (10+ years) working in an international sports and/or media organisation – with a specific background in football and/or journalism.
  • Media communications or public relations expertise and the ability to build and maintain an audience and maintain interest over time.
  • Excellent English skills, including writing (for print and broadcast), communication, and presentation.
  • An outstanding team spirit with an entrepreneurial mindset that thrives when being challenged.
  • Ability to foster long-term relationships with key professionals.
  • Solid experience coordinating successful communications campaigns.
  • Understand and be conscious of the political and commercial nature of a global governing body’s activities in addition to organising tournaments and events.
  • Bachelor's in languages/communications/journalism/digital media.
  • Masters in languages/communications/journalism/digital media.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills and management of messaging and media – as well as working under tight deadlines.
  • Perfect understanding of global football activities.
  • Excellent command of communications platforms and media relations.
  • Expertise in video production and social media as well as standard messaging and content creation.
  • Fluent in English; Proficiency in any other FIFA language (F / ES / GER) is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel at least one week per month.
  • Readiness for stand-by duties.
  • MS Office / Advanced.
  • SAP knowledge would be an asset (Finance/Budgeting, Procurement, Governance and RFP process management).
  • Ability to, beyond the department, think for the division and the organisation.
  • Ability to liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable presenting to and communicating with top management and key stakeholders (internal and external).
