About POWERTECH
POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.
Position Summary:
The Electric Motor Senior Engineer is responsible for the
design, development, certification support, and lifecycle management of electric motors
used in
aerospace, defense, and automotive propulsion systems
. The role focuses on delivering
high-reliability, safety-critical, and high-performance electric machines
that meet stringent regulatory, environmental, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the design and development of electric motors for propulsion applications, including e-propulsion, hybrid systems, auxiliary power units, and actuation systems.
-
Define motor architectures considering power density, efficiency, thermal limits, redundancy, and fault tolerance.
-
Develop detailed electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical designs, including winding topology, materials, cooling, and insulation systems.
-
Serve as a technical authority during design reviews, trade studies, and technical risk assessments.
-
Conduct advanced electromagnetic, thermal, and structural simulations using industry-standard tools (e.g., ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, Motor-CAD, MATLAB/Simulink).
-
Optimize designs for efficiency, NVH, weight, reliability, and survivability under extreme operating conditions.
-
Support motor-inverter-control system integration, including torque control, efficiency mapping, and fault detection strategies.
-
Define and support prototype builds, qualification testing, and validation activities, including performance, endurance, vibration, thermal cycling, and environmental testing.
-
Analyze test results, lead root-cause investigations, and implement corrective design actions.
-
Support certification and compliance activities in line with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., DO-160, DO-254, MIL-STD, ISO 26262, IEC/ISO standards).
-
Provide engineering support for production ramp-up, field issues, and in-service performance improvements.
Collaboration
-
Work closely with power electronics, controls, systems engineering, mechanical, test, and quality teams.
-
Interface with customers, suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders on technical matters.
-
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical capability building and knowledge transfer within Powertech Engines.
-
Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure design for manufacturability, quality, and repeatability.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
-
Master’s degree or PhD in Electric Machines, Power Engineering, or Propulsion Systems is highly preferred.
-
8+ years of experience in electric motor design for aerospace, defense, or automotive propulsion systems.
