Apex is seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team supporting global data center projects. This role will augment the team’s day-to-day capacity in designing, supporting, and improving hyperscale data center infrastructure.
We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical depth, cross-functional coordination skills, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges at scale.
Key Responsibilities
A) Design & Localize New Hyperscale Data Centers
- Review and assist with technical development of electrical systems including campus layouts, SLDs, HV/MV infrastructure, substations (up to 345kV), and calculations
- Review internal specifications and vendor compliance documentation
- Oversee and provide technical direction to A/E design consultants
- Peer review consultant deliverables (drawings, specifications, sequences of operations, models) and provide actionable feedback
- Identify opportunities for value engineering
- Create rapid conceptual sketches using industry-standard tools for internal communication and validation
B) Support Data Center Operations
- Lead or support resolution of electrical issues, outages, or fleetwide infrastructure improvements
- Review post-mortem and root cause analysis reports, and offer technical recommendations
- Propose solutions and upgrades that enhance reliability and availability
- Analyze operational data and trends to assess equipment health and predict failures
C) Support Construction Activities
- Collaborate with design, construction, and change management teams to triage construction-originated engineering issues
- Support engineering bulletins to communicate design updates
- Contribute to feedback loops to enhance standard designs across products, construction, and operations
D) General Engineering Administration
- Use internal systems to log and track engineering issues
- Develop and deliver presentations using Google Slides to share findings and recommendations
- Perform engineering calculations using Excel or Google Sheets
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (PE license preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of high/medium/low voltage distribution systems, including substations up to 345kV
- Experience with mission-critical facilities (data centers preferred)
- Familiarity with specifying equipment such as switchgear, panelboards, UPS, transformers, VFDs, and monitoring devices
- Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
- Proficient in CAD or BIM tools for engineering sketches and layoutsStrong understanding of cross-disciplinary collaboration with structural, civil, mechanical, architectural, and IT/security teams

Pay: $175,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
