Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design, development, documentation, and testing of factory automation systems. This role focuses on the integration of complex industrial components and machinery, spanning PLC-based control systems, robotics, Ethernet communications, and power distribution.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership throughout the design, build, and integration phases of automation projects.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Management and Engineering teams to define requirements for new or modified factory automation systems
Design and capture complete electrical schematics for factory automation systems and system modifications
Design electrical subsystems including panels, enclosures, and cabling using approved CAD tools
Produce complete electrical assembly and manufacturing documentation
Select and integrate PLC components in accordance with company standards
Collaborate with software teams on PLC programming, including diagnostics and core system functions
Ensure electrical designs meet safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness requirements
Support troubleshooting and debugging efforts for newly assembled systems
Advise and support technicians during system assembly
Continuously improve design processes, tools, and diagnostic capabilities
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies
Provide technical support and training to internal teams
Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and component suppliers
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related electrical discipline
Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering for factory automation and industrial system integration
Strong experience designing and integrating PLC-based control systems
Proven experience integrating industrial safety components into automation systems
Strong proficiency in electrical schematic capture using tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, or similar
Strong proficiency in mechanical CAD modeling and design tools such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor
Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Strong understanding of electrical assembly processes, including panels, enclosures, and cabling
Experience working with vendors to identify, evaluate, and support automation components
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proven ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously
