About Tiberius Aerospace
Tiberius Aerospace is a cutting-edge Aerospace and Defense company committed to delivering innovative, secure, and compliant solutions for our customers. We specialize in mission-critical technology services for government and private sector customers, ensuring excellence in aerospace systems design, performance, and compliance.
Position Overview
The Senior Principal Electrical Engineer will own design and analysis projects for missile, high-G artillery, and other aerospace systems. This role requires a proven track record of independently designing, analyzing, and/or validating flight electrical systems under extreme conditions. You’ll provide technical leadership in design reviews, guide junior staff where applicable, and serve as the subject matter expert for electrical systems.
What You’ll Do
- Design and analyze electrical system components and assemblies for aerospace/defense applications subject to extreme G-loads or other harsh environments, focusing on robust and manufacturable solutions.
- Lead the development of avionics architectures; compact circuit boards; harnesses and connectors; power supply, distribution, and regulation; and actuation drive circuitry for flight systems.
- Design custom circuitry for component development, hardware-in-the-loop demonstrations, and flight system testing.
- Develop detailed master interconnect diagrams, engineering drawings, and documentation meeting ASME and DoD requirements.
- Lead engineering engagement with suppliers of components related to avionics and electrical systems.
- Collaborate closely with GNC, mechanical, and thermal engineers for seamless system-level integration and optimal interface design.
- Oversee prototype fabrication, environmental qualification testing, and artillery launch campaigns, incorporating lessons learned into design iterations.
- Improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness through process optimization practices.
- Conduct comprehensive design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and provide subject matter expertise in engineering design principles.
- Ensure compliance with ITAR, ISO 9001, MIL-STD-810, and other relevant aerospace/defense compliance, design, and testing standards.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience, with at least 7+ years in Aerospace and Defense, demonstrating a strong portfolio of successful designs.
- High proficiency in tools and methods consistent with complex electrical system design, assembly, and test, including the development of specifications.
- Familiarity with DoD testing and requirements, including radiated and conducted susceptibility.
- Willingness to take on assignments outside your normal sphere of expertise when the need arises, especially when gaps develop in the team’s bandwidth or knowledgebase.
- Demonstrated record of end-to-end ownership of electrical system designs from concept through detailed design, production, and test.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with artillery-fired systems, guided munitions, or missile systems, including knowledge of relevant electrical system design challenges.
- Familiarity with shock and vibration mitigation strategies and ruggedization techniques for high-G survivability in extreme environments.
- Proficiency with Altium EDA software for PCB design.
- Experience with link budgeting, datalink and telemetry design and specifications, microwave circuit design and specifications, and/or antenna design and specifications.
- Familiarity with firmware development, communication protocols and interfaces, and C/C++.
- Background working with DoD clients, ITAR projects, or defense primes, with a strong understanding of relevant design specifications.
- Ability to thrive in a start-up/rapid prototyping culture while maintaining discipline in engineering rigor and design best practices.
