Position Summary:
CITEL is hiring an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to add to our growing R&D team at its new Hillsborough, NC facility.
This role will play a key part in hands-on design work as well as cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, testing, and global R&D teams. This is a senior, individual-contributor role with opportunities to influence architecture, process and technical direction as the US R&D organization continues to grow. The successful candidate will also be expected to be a strong mentor within the engineering group.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop power electronic circuits and systems, including power supplies, protection circuitry, and associated control electronics
- Perform schematic design, component selection, simulation, and PCB layout support
- Support prototype build, bring-up, debugging, and validation testing in the lab
- Define and execute electrical test plans to verify performance, reliability, and compliance
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing to support design for manufacturability (DFM), design for test (DFT), and production ramp
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical decision-making and risk assessments
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for electrical failures and field issues Maintain clear technical documentation, including schematics, test reports, and design records

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 7+ years of professional experience in electrical or power electronics design
- Strong background in power electronics, including AC/DC and/or DC/DC power conversion
- Experience designing circuits for robustness, reliability, and protection
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools
- Hands-on lab experience with debugging and validation of power circuits
- Solid understanding of electrical safety, grounding, and EMI/EMC fundamentals
- Work on site at our NC facility required (no remote or hybrid work)
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with surge, transient, or lightning testing (e.g., IEC 61000-4-5 or similar standards)
- Familiarity with EMC/EMI testing and mitigation techniques
- Experience working with external test labs or compliance agencies
- Exposure to high-reliability, industrial, or energy-related products
- Experience supporting products from concept through production
