Senior Electrical Engineer in Design

Roles & Responsibilities of Electrical Design Engineer (Consultant)

1. Design & Engineering

• Prepare complete electrical design drawings including:
• Power distribution layouts
• Lighting layouts
• Earthing & lightning protection systems
• ELV systems (Fire Alarm, Data, CCTV, Access Control, PA, SMATV, BMS interface)
• Perform load calculations, short-circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations, and cable sizing.
• Design LV systems, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, and panel schedules.
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations (DEWA/SEWA/ADDC/FEWA or relevant authority).
• Coordinate electrical design with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.

2. Authority Approval & Compliance

• Prepare and submit electrical drawings and documents for authority approvals.
• Address comments from authorities and revise designs accordingly.
• Ensure designs comply with:
• Local electrical codes
• IEC / BS / NEC standards
• Project specifications and contract requirements.

3. Technical Documentation

• Prepare design reports, calculations, and technical specifications.
• Develop BOQs and assist in cost estimation.
• Review contractor material submittals, shop drawings, and method statements.
• Prepare value engineering proposals when required.

4. Site Support & Coordination

• Provide technical support during construction stage.
• Respond to RFIs related to electrical design.
• Review and approve electrical shop drawings and coordination drawings.
• Attend site meetings and resolve design-related issues.

5. Quality Control & Inspection

• Conduct site inspections to ensure installation compliance with approved drawings.
• Identify design deviations and recommend corrective actions.
• Participate in testing & commissioning activities.
• Ensure proper implementation of electrical safety standards.

6. As-Built Documentation & Handover

• Review and approve as-built drawings.
• Verify O&M manuals related to electrical systems.
• Assist in final project handover and snag clearance.

7. Health, Safety & Sustainability

• Ensure electrical designs comply with HSE and safety standards.
• Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable solutions (LED lighting, power factor correction, energy-saving systems).
• Support green building requirements (LEED / Estidama / GSAS if applicable).

8. Professional & Coordination Responsibilities

• Liaise with clients, authorities, contractors, and suppliers.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and draftsmen.
• Maintain design quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED13,000.00 - AED18,000.00 per month
