SENIOR ELECTRICAL MECHANICAL TECH - 2nd Shift

Summary:

Specialty Foods Group, LLC (SFG), a dynamic pork processor and packager based in Owensboro, Kentucky, is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team. This position plays a critical role in supporting production operations through advanced troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, equipment reliability improvements, and leadership within the maintenance department.

The Senior Electrical Mechanical Technician is responsible for minimizing equipment downtime, diagnosing and repairing complex electrical and mechanical issues, and assisting in mentoring and training maintenance team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support production operations by providing immediate response to equipment breakdowns and critical maintenance needs to minimize downtime
  • Perform advanced preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on meat processing and facility equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose issues involving motors, VFDs, PLCs, conveyors, control panels, gearboxes, sensors, and production equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and mechanical drawings
  • Perform electrical work involving 110-, 220-, and 480-volt systems
  • Assist in installation, setup, alignment, and modification of production equipment and machinery
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts during major equipment failures and assist with root cause analysis
  • Mentor and assist in training junior maintenance technicians
  • Ensure preventative maintenance tasks are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain compliance with all company safety policies, food safety standards, and maintenance procedures
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and operational efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Industrial Maintenance Degree, Electrical Technology Degree, or related technical certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with PLCs, VFDs, motors, relays, sensors, and conveyor systems preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining gearboxes, chain drives, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues independently
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience performing machine alignment using precision instruments
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed
  • Must possess personal hand tools required for the position
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments
  • Commitment to safety policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Willingness to complete Confined Space training
  • Hazmat certification a plus
  • Must successfully pass external maintenance testing

SkillsAbilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and troubleshooting
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining gearboxes, chain drives, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance related to hazardous materials.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and make decisions under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in varying temperatures, including cold storage and mechanical rooms.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required.
