Job Summary

We are a heavy engineering manufacturing industry seeking an experienced Senior Engineer Mechanical Maintenance. The candidate will lead the maintenance team—including engineers and technicians—and ensure the smooth functioning of all mechanical equipment. The role requires strong expertise in mechanical maintenance and working knowledge of electrical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the maintenance team (engineers, technicians, fitters,welder) to ensure effective execution of maintenance activities.
• Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all mechanical equipment in the fabrication and heavy engineering environment.
• Ensure minimum breakdown time and maximize machine/equipment availability.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and guide the team in quick resolution.
• Oversee maintenance of fabrication equipment such as cranes, welding machines, grinding machines, rolling machines, cutting machines, compressors, pumps, and other heavy engineering machinery.
• Coordinate with the production team to understand equipment performance issues and address them promptly.
• Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities, history cards, equipment logs, and spare parts records.
• Identify maintenance improvement opportunities and implement cost-effective solutions.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and statutory compliance for all maintenance works.
• Manage AMC vendors, spare parts procurement, service providers, and utility maintenance.
• Support basic electrical troubleshooting, motor checks, and coordination with the electrical team as required.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians for skill development.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a fabrication/heavy engineering manufacturing industry.
• Strong technical knowledge in mechanical equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, fabrication machinery, and utility systems.
• Basic working knowledge of electrical maintenance (motors, panels, sensors, switches, control wiring).
• Good leadership, team-handling, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple maintenance activities.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of safety practices and compliance requirements.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience in handling large-scale fabrication shop maintenance.
• Exposure to TPM, 5S, and lean maintenance practices.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance in heavy engineering / fabrication / metal manufacturing industries.
