Senior Engineer - Structural Estimator

Marmon Technologies India Private Limited

As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.

We are seeking a technically proficient and detail-oriented Structural Estimator to support the Construction product group business from GIC India. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive material estimates based on architectural and structural drawings, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
As a key contributor to the pre-sales and business development process, you will translate complex design information into reliable quantity take offs and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for Construction product group product portfolios such as anchors, ties, shelf angles, flashings, air barriers, and insulation systems. You will also play an important role in identifying competitor products specified on projects and proposing equivalent Construction product solutions that create value for customers.
This position offers the opportunity to apply and expand your structural engineering expertise in a global environment—driving data-driven design improvements, enhancing simulation capabilities, and influencing product design decisions that contribute directly to the performance and sustainability of Marmon’s Construction group products.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret architectural, structural, and façade drawings to extract relevant data for material estimation.
  • Analyse full project specification sets covering masonry, facade, and building envelope systems including bricks, wall assemblies, insulation, brackets, and accessories.
  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and detailed material estimates for H&B product categories, including:
    • Anchors and ties
    • Shelf angles and masonry support
    • Flashings and weep systems
    • Air barriers and insulation solutions
  • Develop, use, and continuously improve standardized estimation templates incorporating key project parameters such as:
    • Number of floors
    • Floor-by-floor perimeter dimensions
    • Floor-to-floor and ceiling-to-window panel heights
    • Insulation type, thickness, and wall configuration
  • Map project requirements and specifications to appropriate business product portfolio, ensuring compliance with applicable standards (ASTM, ACI, TMS, or equivalent).
  • Generate structured Bills of Materials (BOMs) including quantities, waste factors, and preliminary pricing inputs.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and traceability of estimation data across projects.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and specifications to identify competitor products within Construction product group business scope of supply.
  • Document competitor references and recommend technically equivalent or superior Construction product group business alternatives for substitution and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to support bid strategy, competitive positioning, and client engagement.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimation processes, templates, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with design, engineering, and product teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve estimation-related queries.

Personal Characteristics and Attributes:

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Technically curious, with a solid understanding of masonry and facade construction practices.
  • Organized and methodical, capable of managing multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Collaborative and dependable, able to work effectively with sales, engineering, and project teams.
  • Proactive and accountable, taking ownership of estimation accuracy and deliverables.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain technical assumptions and quantities in a structured manner.

Skills/Experience:

  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
  • Good understanding of masonry systems, façade assemblies, anchors, ties, flashings, insulation, and building envelope components.
  • Proficiency in quantity take-off and construction estimation methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of relevant construction codes and standards (ASTM, ACI, TMS, or equivalent).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; experience developing and maintaining estimation templates preferred.
  • Familiarity with estimation or take-off tools/software is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting pre-sales, bidding, or business development activities is desirable.

Opportunities for Growth:

  • Exposure to a wide range of masonry and façade projects across commercial, institutional, and industrial construction.
  • Opportunity to work closely with global sales, engineering, and product teams within Construction product group.
  • Development pathway toward Senior Estimator, Technical Sales Support, or Product Specialist roles.
  • Hands-on involvement in value engineering, product substitution, and competitive analysis initiatives.
  • Continuous learning through engagement with evolving building codes, materials, and construction practices.

Nice to have Requirements:

  • Exposure to international building and testing standards such as ASTM, EN, or BS codes.
  • Experience with façade systems, rainscreen assemblies, or advanced building envelope solutions.
  • Understanding of sustainability considerations, material efficiency, and waste optimization in construction estimating.
  • Prior experience working with U.S.-based construction drawings and specifications.

Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
