Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and supervise all litigation matters (civil, criminal, revenue, and property-related) before District Courts, High Court, and other forums.
· Conduct detailed land and property due diligence, verifying title, encumbrances, mutation records, and investigating ownership through revenue and registration offices.
· Possess in-depth knowledge of Hindu and Muslim Personal Laws relating to inheritance, succession, partition, gift, wakf, and trust matters affecting land ownership and title.
· Review and draft of Development Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, Power of Attorney, Deeds of Conveyance, Lease Deeds, and Sale Agreements, ensuring legal soundness and statutory compliance.
· Provide strategic legal opinions on title defects, acquisition issues, and ongoing litigations affecting land holdings.
· Liaise with external counsels, government departments, local authorities, and regulatory bodies for effective legal management.
· Monitor and ensure compliance with court directions, regulatory filings, and contractual obligations.
· Train, mentor, and supervise junior legal officers and external counsels.
· Prepare case summaries, litigation reports, and legal strategy notes for management review.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
· Profound understanding of Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Evidence Act, and Transfer of Property Act.
· Strong knowledge of West Bengal Land Laws – including Land Reforms Act, Thika Tenancy Act, Urban Land Ceiling Act, and Mutation procedures.
· Proven experience in drafting, vetting, and negotiation of real estate and property documents.
· Excellent command over legal drafting, analytical reasoning, and advocacy coordination.
· Ability to independently handle complex litigation and provide clear legal strategies.
