Position Summary
The Senior Financial Planning Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the company’s financial modeling, loan performance forecasting, and analytical decision-making processes. This role partners closely with the Director of Finance to build and maintain models, reporting, and insights that guide customer acquisition strategy, credit policy, cash-flow planning, and overall portfolio performance. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights for cross-functional partners across Marketing, Risk, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and enhance forecasting models for originations, roll rates, losses, payment rates, prepayments, and other key credit behaviors.
- Support the Director of Finance in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual loan performance forecasts.
- Develop financial models and business cases to evaluate marketing initiatives, credit strategies, and operational changes.
- Conduct variance analysis and prepare performance reporting for leadership, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timeliness.
- Partner with Marketing to analyze acquisition funnel performance and evaluate ROI on campaigns and channels.
- Work with Risk and Operations to assess delinquency trends, payment behavior, customer outcomes, and operational cost drivers.
- Maintain and improve reporting tools, dashboards, and KPI tracking to enhance visibility into portfolio performance across departments.
- Provide ad hoc analysis to support strategic planning, scenario modeling, and decision-making.
- Increase efficiency and reduce turnaround time for forecasting updates and analytical requests by building scalable reporting tools and processes.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate insights that support decision-making in Marketing, Credit, and Operations.
- Manage and interpret complex datasets with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to investigate performance drivers and uncover root causes.
- Prioritize multiple deadlines and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while ensuring the quality and accuracy of financial outputs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; master’s degree preferred but not required.
- 3–5 years of experience in FP&A, credit analytics, portfolio forecasting, or financial modeling, ideally within consumer lending, fintech, banking, or another credit-driven environment.
- Experience working with loan-level datasets, credit performance metrics, or behavioral forecasting models (e.g., roll rates, loss curves, payment-rate forecasting) preferred.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with experience in consumer lending or credit analytics preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and scenario modeling.
- Experience building and maintaining three-statement financial models.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or similar analytics tools is a strong plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into clear insights for leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to build scalable analytical frameworks, improve reporting processes, and enhance overall understanding of portfolio trends.
