Senior Freight-In Logistics Manager

Job Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Freight-In Logistics Manager to lead and optimize inbound logistics operations across our U.S. service centers. This high-impact role manages a team of 10+ logistics professionals nationwide and ensures operational excellence, timely shipments, and top-tier service to Trader Joe’s.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Direct, mentor, and develop a nationwide team of logistics professionals across multiple time zones.
• Vendor & Broker Management: Maintain strong relationships with vendors and brokers, ensuring capacity for growth and operational reliability.
• Customer Service: Serve as the primary logistics contact for Trader Joe’s, resolving issues and providing timely communication.
• Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and implement best practices across all locations.
• Performance Management: Establish and monitor KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and foster skill development within the team.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee planning, unloading, and merchandising of inbound shipments with real-time tracking technologies.
• Route Optimization: Analyze and optimize shipping routes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
• Financial & Strategic Reporting: Prepare reports, monitor industry rate trends, and align logistics operations with business objectives.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations follow company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards, including OSHA.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in logistics management, specifically inbound operations and broker network oversight.
• Experience managing teams across multiple time zones.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and logistics systems (TMW, WMS, Road Net TMS, Truckmate, PC Miler, Qualcomm GPS, Load Boards, Freight Calculators).
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Experience:

• Food distribution and USDA experience.
• Strong data analytics skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing complex supply chain operations.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate safely in warehouse/service center environments with variable temperatures.
• Comfortable working around heavy moving equipment in a fast-paced environment.
