About SynapseMX

At SynapseMX, we’re bridging the gap between deep aviation expertise and Silicon Valley innovation. We build the quality assurance backbone for complex operational domains where "getting it right" is mission-critical. Our software is used by aircraft maintenance teams to replace paper-driven, fragmented QA processes with a single authoritative digital platform. We are a company built by airline maintenance experts - our software has been used by multiple air carriers around the world, and we’re preparing for deployment across U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard units.

Our flagship platform, TIMS, is an advanced, real-time coordination platform designed to enhance aircraft readiness at both strategic and operational levels. By unifying inspection oversight and work centers into a single, holistic interface, we enable smarter, faster decision-making that improves aircraft availability.

If you want to solve real-world problems, you belong here.

We are lean, fast, and focused. We don’t have layers of middle management, and we don’t move at a "corporate" pace. At the same time, we have DoD contracts that require a structured delivery - which means contractually-defined (but reasonable) schedules, (moderate) time tracking, and a final product that is reviewed and accepted by the U.S. Air Force. Joining us means:

  • Zero Red Tape:
You report to the CEO and own your workstreams.
  • Peer Accountability: In a team of 12, your code, your logic, and your work ethic are visible. We don't glorify long hours, but we expect focused time on the work.
  • High Autonomy, High Responsibility: You’ll be handed roughly-defined problems requiring collaboration with the team to figure out the "how," build the "what," and ensure it works in the field.

The Challenge: Creating the Future of Aviation Ops

You will own defined feature workstreams across our roadmap. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, and the customer to define and create:

  • Scalable Architecture: Add the capability to scale up on-demand both vertically and horizontally.
  • AI-Powered Analytics: Creating the intelligence that helps maintenance teams respond to trends before they evolve into much larger problems.
  • Scenario Modeling: Building the tools that allow leadership to create and adapt inspection plans, then quickly understand the impact of changes.
  • Dashboards: Helping customers easily make sense of their data to make rapid, informed decisions.
  • Integrations: Designing the APIs required as our platform continues to grow.

Is this you?

  • Your Background: 6+ years of full-stack development experience with a bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; OR 8+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of degree.
  • You’re a Generalist/Owner: You are comfortable jumping between backend architecture, frontend coding, and defining product features.
  • You Have a Leadership Track Record: You’ve successfully led cross-team technical efforts and owned a vertical (platform, AI/ML, integrations) that solved customer needs.
  • You Value "Operational Weight": You’d rather solve a problem that improves the everyday worklife for people than optimize an ad-click algorithm.
  • You Thrive in Ambiguity: You can take a conversation with a stakeholder, create a requirements document, and turn it into a working feature.
  • You’ve Shipped in Regulated Environments Before: You know that "done" means tested, documented, reviewed, and defensible - not just merged..
  • You Raise The Bar For The Team: You review code with the intent to teach, not to gatekeep. You pair with Mid- and Junior-level engineers because their growth is part of your job, not a distraction from it.

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Preferred Skills

  • Track record designing data pipelines, analytics platforms, or reporting infrastructure in SaaS - not just contributing to them
  • Experience architecting AI/ML features in production - selecting between RAG, fine-tuning, or classical approaches based on data and latency constraints; owning the evaluation strategy, not just the implementation
  • Experience defining API contracts for external integrations and shepherding them through customer/partner review
  • Comfort leading technical discovery with stakeholders - translating a half-formed customer conversation into an RFC, acceptance criteria, and a delivery plan
  • Experience mentoring mid- and junior-level engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback - and a genuine interest in doing so
  • Experience owning a vertical end-to-end (platform, AI/ML, integrations, or similar) across at least one major release cycle
  • Strong written communication for government deliverables, ADRs, and technical documentation - you'll be the technical voice in customer and USAF working sessions
  • Production experience with IaC (Terraform/Ansible), container orchestration (Docker/K8s, ECS), and stream processing (RabbitMQ/ActiveMQ or similar)
  • Deep database experience - PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar - including schema design, query optimization, and migration strategy at scale
  • Prior EmberJS and FeathersJS strongly preferred; able to ramp on unfamiliar frameworks quickly when needed
  • Comfort operating in regulated environments (SOC 2, HIPAA) — CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, RMF, or FedRAMP exposure is a plus
