Basalt Laboratory is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical investigations, analyze soil and rock data, and provide engineering recommendations for construction projects. This role is responsible for managing complex projects, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring technical deliverables meet client specifications and industry standards. The position reports to the Technical Director or Principal Geotechnical Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, supervise, and interpret geotechnical field investigations, including soil boring, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze geotechnical data to characterize soil and rock properties and develop geotechnical design parameters.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including foundation recommendations, slope stability analysis, and earthwork specifications.
- Design foundations, retaining structures, and ground improvement solutions.
- Review geotechnical aspects of construction plans and provide recommendations during the construction phase.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and client communications for multiple geotechnical assignments.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior geotechnical engineers and field staff.
- Conduct peer reviews of technical reports and calculations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities on geotechnical matters.
- Stay current with advancements in geotechnical engineering practices and software.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is strongly preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (e.g., CEng) is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, including investigation, analysis, and design.
- Proven experience in managing geotechnical projects from proposal to final report.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, LPILE, gINT).
- Comprehensive knowledge of local geology, UAE building codes, and international geotechnical standards.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead project teams and mentor junior staff.
- Willingness to perform and supervise field work as needed.
