Job Summary

Haartz has an exciting opportunity to join our HR team as a Senior Human Resources Specialist. This position’s primary responsibilities include administering the company’s benefits programs, managing leaves in accordance with state and federal laws and supporting the company training program. Position is full-time and on-site in Acton, MA.

Successful candidates will be system savvy, analytical and detail oriented with excellent communication, organizational and time management skills, a strong work ethic, flexibility and like working in a fast-paced team environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Leave Administration

  • Serve as primary point of contact for employees, supervisors, managers and HR team for all types of leaves (FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, ADA, etc.)
  • Assist and collaborate with the safety group to ensure all workers’ compensation claims run concurrently with appropriate federal and state leave programs
  • Serve as liaison between employees and leave vendor to ensure streamlined communication and adherence to company policies
  • Ensures medical certification and return to work requirements are provided by employees and communicated internally as needed
  • Ensure adherence to all state laws, federal laws and established internal policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Completes leave related reporting as needed

Benefits Administration

  • Serve as primary point of contact for employees, supervisors, managers and HR team for all company benefits
  • Support daily benefits administration for employee benefit programs such as group health insurance, dental, vision, life, flex spending, disability programs
  • Ensures regulatory and plan compliance
  • Completes benefit related reporting as needed
  • Communicate with vendors acting as liaison between employees and benefit service providers in a timely, compassionate, confidential and reassuring manner.
  • Assist employees and HR with benefit enrollment/changes within required time limits to meet payroll and enrollment deadlines (including qualifying life events and annual open enrollment).
  • Leading annual open enrollment process and wellness initiatives.

Training Administration

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments including professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Assists with the coordination and administration related to the employee training program including some data entry.

Skills and Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience working in a human resource environment including at least three years administering benefits and leaves.
  • Knowledge and experience with employee benefits and applicable laws including FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, ADA, COBRA
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PPT and other MS Office applications.
  • A high aptitude for systems, confidentiality, creative problem solving, understanding detail and data integrity

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field is strongly preferred.
  • PHR and/or SHRM CP designations preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus!
  • Experience working in Manufacturing or similar industry strongly preferred
