Job Title: Sr. Industrial Engineer Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI)

FLSA: Exempt Grade: NA

Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 0-15%

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Senior Industrial Engineer identifies and drives process improvement opportunities by analyzing manufacturing performance against internal standards. This role develops and implements improved processes and methods to reduce cost, increase productivity, and enhance resource utilization across people, equipment, materials, and facilities. Partnering closely with manufacturing leadership and employees, the Senior Industrial Engineer leads continuous improvement initiatives, supports new product introductions to ensure smooth transitions into production, and delivers innovative solutions to complex manufacturing challenges in alignment with Precision’s strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

More specifically, the employee owner will:

  • Lead costing initiatives including product and process costing, cost-benefit analyses, payback models, and project justifications.
  • Partner with operations, finance, and quality teams to identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities across labor, materials, overhead, and capital investment.
  • Maintain and improve cost/time estimating equations and manufacturing routings
  • Support Estimating with special quoting for new and unique products.
  • Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and production balancing to validate standards, improve accuracy, and optimize throughput.
  • Support automation and capital equipment projects from evaluation through implementation, ensuring financial and productivity targets are achieved.
  • Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, and performance metrics to drive process stability and scalability.
  • Provide technical support for new and existing products to ensure cost-effective manufacturability and smooth production transitions.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to summarize costs, performance trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical leadership and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven expertise in product and process costing, including cost-benefit analysis, payback models, and business case justification.
  • Strong skills in data analytics, statistical methods, and performance modeling to identify cost drivers and optimize resources.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) to present cost and performance insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and decision-making abilities in complex manufacturing environments.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills to collaborate across operations, finance, quality, and supply chain.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive measurable results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or operations; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software (Excel, Minitab, Power BI).

TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

  • Must be able to travel by vehicle or plane up to 50% of the workday – Travel as needed

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud when on the production floor and moderate when working in the office.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection when in the production area.
