Hybrid | Full-Time | Atlanta, GA
We are acquiring and transforming businesses in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. We combine domain expertise with leading-edge technology strategy to create lasting value in the built environment.
We are seeking a Senior Integration Manager to own the critical period between deal close and steady-state operations. You'll lead the first 100 days of each acquisition—coordinating across HR, IT, finance, and operations to integrate the acquired company into our portfolio while preserving what made it valuable in the first place. This role then transitions into optimization, working with portfolio company leadership to identify and execute operational improvements.
This is a hands-on execution role. You'll be on-site with acquired companies, building relationships with their teams, running integration workstreams, and solving the dozens of practical problems that arise when two organizations come together. We're targeting 6-8 acquisitions annually, so you'll develop deep expertise in what makes integrations succeed—and what makes them fail.
Own the integration process from Day 1 through Day 100+ for each acquisition, serving as the central point of coordination across all workstreams.
Develop and execute integration plans covering HR/people, IT/systems, finance/accounting, operations, and culture—tailored to each acquisition's unique circumstances.
Coordinate with HR Operations and IT to ensure employees are properly onboarded to company systems, benefits, and policies.
Partner with Finance/Accounting to integrate financial reporting, establish new chart of accounts alignment, and ensure clean monthly closes.
Build relationships with acquired company leadership and employees, serving as their primary point of contact during the transition period.
Receive knowledge transfer from the M&A team on diligence findings, ensuring integration plans address identified risks and opportunities.
Identify and escalate integration risks, developing mitigation plans and keeping leadership informed of progress and blockers.
Develop and refine the integration playbook, documenting lessons learned and best practices from each acquisition.
Transition from integration to optimization, working with portfolio company leadership to identify operational improvement opportunities.
Support the implementation of shared services (HR, IT, Finance, Marketing) across portfolio companies.
Track and report on integration milestones, KPIs, and value creation metrics.
Travel to acquired company locations as needed during integration periods (expect 30-50% travel depending on deal flow).
6-10 years of experience in post-merger integration, management consulting, or operational transformation roles.
Direct involvement in 5-15 post-acquisition integrations, with experience leading integration workstreams.
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree a plus.
Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Understanding of key integration workstreams: HR/benefits, IT/systems, finance/reporting, and operations.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly with acquired company employees at all levels.
Strong change management instincts—you know how to bring people along, not just mandate compliance.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences.
Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make progress when playbooks don't exist yet.
Willingness to travel significantly during active integration periods.
Hands-on orientation—you execute the work, not just manage it from a distance.
Strong bias for automation and personal workflow optimization—you're always looking for ways to streamline integration processes and eliminate manual work.
Experience with AI tools for productivity, specifically Claude or similar AI assistants. We use Claude extensively and expect you to leverage it daily.
Experience with lower middle market acquisitions ($5-50M enterprise value) where integration resources are lean.
Familiarity with the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry or professional services firms.
Background in management consulting (Big 4, strategy firms, or boutiques focused on integration/transformation).
Experience with buy-and-hold portfolio companies versus traditional PE fund models.
Track record of identifying and capturing operational synergies post-acquisition.
Experience integrating founder-led businesses where culture and relationships are critical.
Familiarity with ERP migrations, HRIS implementations, or other systems integration work.
Ownership of the integration function with direct impact on whether acquisitions succeed or struggle.
High deal volume (6-8 annually) allowing you to rapidly build integration expertise and refine your playbook.
The satisfaction of seeing your work translate into real value creation—companies that operate better because of what you built.
Exposure to diverse businesses across the AEC ecosystem, building broad operational knowledge.
Close collaboration with senior leadership and acquired company executives.
The opportunity to build integration processes and infrastructure from the ground up.
Integration is where M&A value is won or lost. We've seen too many deals fail to deliver because the hard work of bringing companies together was treated as an afterthought. Here, integration is a first-class function—you'll have the resources, the mandate, and the organizational support to do it right. And because we're building a long-term portfolio rather than flipping companies, you'll see the results of your work compound over years, not just quarters.
If you're someone who thrives in the messy middle—after the deal closes but before things are running smoothly—and you get satisfaction from building relationships and solving practical problems, we want to meet you.
Please submit your resume and a cover letter. We look forward to exploring how you can help us integrate and transform our portfolio companies.
