Golden Age Hospitality is a creative, design-forward restaurant group based in New York City, with a growing portfolio of beloved hospitality concepts. Our venues are more than just places to eat, they are spaces with soul, each telling its own story through intentional design, atmosphere, and experience.

We design from a narrative-based perspective, crafting environments that feel authentic, layered, and lived-in—drawing inspiration from Old World sensibilities, vintage details, and timeless materials. Every space is guided by story, texture, and patina, resulting in environments that people are drawn to instinctively.

As we expand into new concepts while maintaining our existing locations, we’re looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our team in-house. This is a rare opportunity to lead the design of both new builds and renovations while maintaining a lasting relationship with the spaces you help bring to life.

Position Summary

The Senior Interior Designer will collaborate closely with the Creative Director to develop and execute interior environments across our portfolio. You’ll be involved in every phase—from concept development to opening day—and will also oversee updates and refinements to existing properties.

This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in a story-driven, hands-on design process, balancing creativity with the practical realities of high-traffic hospitality spaces.

Key Responsibilities

Creative & Conceptual Design

  • Develop thoughtful, layered design narratives that inform visual and spatial decisions.
  • Create mood boards, sketches, renderings, and material palettes to support design direction.
  • Draw inspiration from history, architecture, and the patina of time to create spaces with warmth and depth.

Project Management

  • Lead multiple projects from ideation through completion.
  • Coordinate with ownership, operations, and consultants to ensure alignment with brand and business goals.
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and design milestones.

Ongoing Design for Existing Properties

  • Maintain the design integrity and evolution of current venues.
  • Lead renovations, refreshes, and design-driven operational improvements.
  • Specify durable, timeless materials and finishes suited to real-world hospitality use.

Technical & Documentation

  • Produce detailed drawings, FF&E schedules, millwork designs, and specification sheets.
  • Source lighting, furniture, finishes, and unique decorative elements.
  • Manage samples and ensure accurate representation of design intent.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and fabricators throughout all phases.

Site Coordination

  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure execution matches design intent.
  • Provide creative, practical solutions to field conditions as they arise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience, ideally with a strong portfolio in restaurant or hospitality design.
  • Deep understanding of materials, lighting, and FF&E in guest-facing environments.
  • Proven ability to design spaces that are rich in character and layered in story.
  • Familiarity with NYC construction codes and permitting a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp or Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools (Enscape, V-Ray, etc.).
  • Excellent project management, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Collaborative, curious, and solutions-oriented mindset.

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Design from the inside out: Stay connected to your work beyond opening day—learning what endures in living, breathing hospitality environments.
  • Creative freedom within a clear vision: Collaborate with a team that values storytelling, texture, and originality.
  • Create something lasting: Help shape soulful, transportive spaces that stand the test of time.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $130,000–$150,000 annually, commensurate with experience
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • 401K
  • Opportunity to shape the design legacy of a growing hospitality group
  • Creative, respectful, and highly collaborative work environment
