Senior Interior Designer (Construction-Focused)Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Interior Designer with a strong construction background to lead projects from concept through completion. This role is ideal for a designer who is equally comfortable developing elevated design concepts and executing technically complex projects in collaboration with architects, contractors, and ownership teams.
This individual will play a key role in shaping environments that are both visually compelling and highly functional—bringing a deep understanding of materials, detailing, and construction processes to every project.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Leadership
- Lead design direction from concept through final installation
- Develop and present design concepts, material palettes, and spatial plans
- Ensure design intent is maintained throughout all project phases
- Mentor junior designers and provide creative direction
Technical & Construction Integration
- Produce and oversee detailed construction documents (CDs)
- Develop millwork drawings, finish schedules, and specifications
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors
- Conduct site visits to review progress and ensure design accuracy
- Resolve field conditions and adapt designs as needed
Project Management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying scales and timelines
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Lead client meetings and presentations with confidence
- Coordinate procurement, vendor communication, and installation
Client & Team Collaboration
- Serve as primary client contact on assigned projects
- Translate client vision into actionable design solutions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners
Qualifications
- 7–12+ years of interior design experience, preferably in hospitality, commercial, or high-end residential
- Strong construction knowledge and experience working with GC teams
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Deep understanding of materials, FF&E, and detailing
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
- Experience managing projects through construction administration
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in design-build or development environments
- Experience with ground-up construction and renovations
- Familiarity with building codes, ADA requirements, and specifications

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
