Senior Intermodal Dispatcher

Position Summary
Bali Express Services is seeking an experienced Senior Intermodal Dispatcher to support our growing rail, port, and over-the-road transportation operations. This position serves as a key operational resource between dispatch staff, drivers, customers, and management to ensure the efficient execution of daily transportation activities.
Schedule:
Monday through Saturday, primarily 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position supports a 24/7 transportation operation and may require flexibility for after-hours calls, weekend support, and operational emergencies as business needs require.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of four (4) years of intermodal dispatch experience, including rail, port, and drayage operations, strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers for rail, port, and local container operations.
- Monitor driver progress, appointment schedules, and service commitments.
- Track container movements and provide status updates to customers.
- Coordinate with rail terminals, ports, customers, and internal departments.
- Resolve service failures, delays, and operational disruptions.
- Assist with load planning and driver utilization.
- Monitor driver performance, attendance, and productivity.
- Identify and escalate safety, compliance, or service concerns.
- Support onboarding and training of new dispatch personnel.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
- Assist management with KPI tracking and operational performance metrics.
- Participate in after-hours communication and issue resolution when necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of dispatch experience in trucking or intermodal transportation.
- Strong knowledge of port and rail operations.
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS platforms, and dispatch software.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage 25–50 drivers simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Port of Long Beach and Los Angeles operations.
- Experience with BNSF and Union Pacific rail ramps.
- Familiarity with detention, demurrage, chassis management, and container tracking.
- Experience preparing operational reports and KPIs.
