Position Summary
The Senior CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs to support inspection of precision aerospace components. This role serves as a technical leader within the Quality Department, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements while driving continuous improvement in inspection processes and measurement accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, validate and run complex CMM inspection routines using PC-DMIS.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements (per ASME Y14.5), and CAD models to create accurate inspection programs.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Analyze inspection data and provide detailed reports to engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to dimensional nonconformances.
- Optimize inspection strategies to improve efficiency, repeatability, and throughput.
- Mentor and train junior CMM programmers and quality inspectors.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams.
- Maintain calibration and certification status of CMM equipment and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and AS9100 standards.
- Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field a plus.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of CMM programming experience in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
- Expert-level proficiency with CMM software.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
- Experience with 3D CAD models (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Demonstrated experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP as applicable).
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multi-axis CMMs, scanning technologies, and portable measurement systems (e.g., Faro Arm, laser trackers).
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (e.g., JobBOSS, E2).
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.

Work Environment
- Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to machining operations.
