Growing law firm located in downtown crossing/financial district seeks an energetic, self-motivated and detail-oriented candidate for litigation paralegal position in a small, friendly, fast-paced environment. Will be working on commercial litigation cases. Business, real estate, and employment disputes.
Candidate must be a motivated self-starter who is highly organized, possesses strong writing and communication skills, excellent computer skills, proofread/cite check, research on Westlaw/Lexis, draft cover letters, draft & organize pleadings, assist with document production, file pleadings and motions in both state and federal court, and is familiar with the rules of civil procedure. Candidate can work remotely but will be required to come to the office for trials, mediations, arbitrations, and other substantive hearings. Most have excellent computer skills and have experience with CLIO, netdocs, iManage, relativity, and Dropbox.
Responsibilities
- Be able to maintain control of documents on netdocs, Dropbox, and CLIO.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw/lexis and other resources to support case preparation.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation by preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- Perform data entry related to case management systems and maintain accurate records of all case activities.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts as needed for case development.
- Monitor deadlines for filings and court appearances to ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
- Collaborate with the legal team on strategy development for ongoing litigation matters.
Experience
- A minimum of 1 years of experience as a paralegal in a litigation setting is required.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools such as Westlaw/lexis, CLIO, netdocs, iManage, relativity, and Dropbox.
- Strong proofreading skills, cite checking with an eye for detail in legal documentation.
- Experience with administrative tasks within a law firm environment.
- Familiarity with Environmental law and Tribal law regulations is highly desirable.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting correspondence and legal documents.
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
