Overview

The Senior Management Analyst (SMA) will support the Solid Waste dept in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns and insights that drive informed decision-making for business/process improvements. This position will be responsible for preparing, scrubbing, processing and analyzing data and various datasets, collecting data and translating data into qualitative narrative (dashboards, reports), and monitoring progress of projects on a monthly basis.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub, analyze and interpret data from various datasets

  • Navigate and utilize various databases to efficiently and accurately identify and extract data
  • Define and identify deficiencies in the data
  • Monitor progress and identify risks/opportunities
  • Ensure accurate data is captured for reporting
  • Develop data repeating structure for department leads
  • Define/develop strategies for preventing errors from entering the data/datasets
  • Distill and translate a large volume of quantitative data into qualitative narrative using a wide variety of productivity tools (software programs, apps, etc)
  • Prepare new and/or innovative reports and reporting methods to relay findings/trends/variances/conclusions from produced analyses
  • Communication will be in various forms, including but not limited to dashboards, reports, presentations, one-pagers, abstracts, web pages, emails, policy briefs, SOP's and summaries
  • Create clear visual representations of data findings through, charts, graphs, dashboards

  • Work with department leadership to develop relevant KPI's by working with cross functional teams to understand their data needs and provide relevant insights
  • Communicate findings with stakeholders in clear and actionable way
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

· Exempt – Full-Time

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
  • Four (4) years of related job experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

· A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Data Analytics Certification

Or

  • Degree specialization in Data Analytics or Statistics

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
