Senior Manager / AGM - Business Development (API Business)

Purpose of the Role:


The Senior Manager / Assistant General Manager – Business Development will spearhead growth initiatives in the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) business. The role focuses on expanding market presence in Europe, while leveraging experience in APAC markets as an added advantage. The incumbent will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, strengthening existing customer relationships, and leading strategic commercial engagements.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage and grow long-term customer partnerships through regular engagement and strategic account planning
  • Drive API business growth across assigned geographies, with a primary focus on Europe
  • Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities into sustainable revenue streams
  • Work closely with R&D, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to align customer requirements with organizational capabilities
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements
  • Track industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer pipelines to support strategic decision-making
  • Represent the company at global conferences, industry events, and customer meetings to enhance visibility and credibility


Education Background:


  • MBA (mandatory)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, or related discipline


Required Experience:


  • 10-12 years of active Business Development experience in the API industry
  • Extensive exposure to the European pharmaceutical market; APAC market experience is a strong advantage
  • Proven track record of winning new business and managing key accounts
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments and commercial models
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
