The Position:
Position General Summary:
The Senior Manager, Communications – National Growth leads the planning and execution of external communications for FLVS and FlexPoint, including public relations, crisis communications, thought leadership, and content marketing. Working closely with internal partners, this role is critical to advancing and protecting the organization’s reputation.
As the organization’s lead storyteller, the Senior Manager, Communications – National Growth researches and develops compelling story angles that position FLVS and FlexPoint as leaders in K–12 online education. They oversee content and distribution strategies across owned channels, including the FLVS blog, FlexPoint B2B blog, and social media accounts. The Senior Manager collaborates with the Director, Communications to implement national growth initiatives that support brand-building efforts for both consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) audiences in key markets.
Essential Position Functions:
  • Serve as the primary media relations contact across Florida and national markets, including managing interviews, pitches, talking points, and press releases; cultivating relationships with key journalists; providing media training; and serving as a spokesperson when appropriate
  • Lead thought leadership strategy by identifying internal subject matter experts and positioning organizational leaders as trusted voices in education through op-eds, speaking engagements, and media commentary
  • Oversee and execute content strategy across owned channels by driving editorial storytelling and producing high-quality assets including blog posts, press releases, op-eds, bylines, white papers, and case studies
  • Collaborate with the Director, Communications and internal stakeholders to lead national communications strategies and support marketing strategic roadmaps focused on growth across B2C and B2B audiences in key markets
  • Develop and execute public relations plans to support Florida consumer-facing campaigns, including enrollment periods and course launches
  • Support reputation management through crisis communications planning and execution
  • Collaborate with Creative Services and Marketing teams to develop brand messaging and tone/voice style guides
  • Plan and coordinate communications strategies and logistics for national conferences
  • Oversee the PR & Content Specialist, guiding blog strategy, media pitching, and inbound media response coordination
  • Mentor and manage direct reports, providing leadership and oversight of tactical execution
  • Monitor and analyze communications performance metrics to inform strategy and optimize impact
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices through professional development
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.

Minimum Requirements:
Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field
  • APR or master’s degree in a related field preferred
Experience:
  • 7+ years of progressive communications experience
  • Five years of management experience
  • Public relations and media management, preferably in the education industry

  • Knowledge of communications and marketing strategies, design, digital marketing, and advertising, and developing integrated marketing plans
  • Ability to work with and through people to establish goals, objectives, and action plans
