How you'll make an impact

Lead the North Digital Design UX/UI and digital product capability. Manage a team of four UX/UI Designers and one Digital Design/Product Manager, setting the vision and strategy for user experience, interface design, and digital solution delivery. Champion a user-centric design, digital product innovation, and continuous improvement across North's digital platforms.

Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4 UX Designers and 1 Digital Design/Product Manager, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and growth. Setting clear objectives, providing mentorship, and driving professional development
  • Defining, managing and defending an optimal digital experience for all North Online and North mobile app initiatives
  • Driving a Customer First/Digital Experience focus within the design team, senior leadership and cross-functional project teams, demonstrated through improvements in the way we work and satisfaction survey results; and
  • Defining and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), related to the overall digital experience satisfaction of Advisers and other users of North

UX/UI Design

  • Define, manage and work with technology and other cross functional teams to execute the UI/UX strategy
  • Champion the creation, implementation and governance of all digital experience processes and artefacts (including but not limited to the definition and management of the North Digital Design System & Figma component library, UX/UI processes and UX/UI research)
  • Drive a broader understanding of UX/UI principles and ensure decisions are made that clearly demonstrate this through the delivery of solutions utilising these principles
  • Stay informed with developments in technology, sharing these insights with the broader team and driving the implementation of these ideas within our processes and outcomes
  • Oversee user research/usability testing with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Guide the consistent creation of user storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups

Digital Product Management

  • Oversee the Digital Design/Product Manager in delivering digital product initiatives from ideation, opportunity and risk assessments, product discovery, prioritisation, iterative delivery, launch, and optimisation.
  • Support the development and prioritisation of the digital product roadmap.
  • Ensure engagement with business stakeholders, advisers, and clients to inform product strategy.
  • Lead go-to-market activities for product enhancements and launches, including communications, webinars, collateral, and media.
  • Collaborate with change management teams to roll out new initiatives to internal teams.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Product, Technology, Distribution, Marketing, and Adviser groups.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and successful delivery.

What you will bring to the team

Ideally, you will bring the following experiences to this role:

  • Proven experience as a Senior UX/UI Designer or Manager, leading design teams in Agile environments (3+ years).
  • Demonstrated experience in the Australian wealth management market (5+ years) across products, platforms, superannuation, and retirement income products.
  • Demonstrated experience in product/platform management, development & implementation (5+ years).
  • Experience in Agile development as a product owner/manager (3+ years).
  • Strong expertise in new product development, product optimisation, and digital transformation.
  • Deep understanding of customer experience mapping, user-centred design, storyboarding, wireframing, prototyping, and interface design.
  • Strong experience with UX/Digital Design Tools, such as Figma, Optimal Workshop and Optimizely (CMS).
  • Demonstrated experience in the creation, integration, and governance of an end-to-end UX design system (e.g. Google Material Design/Tokens)
  • Motivated, positive, creative, empathetic, and strategic thinker.
  • Passionate about design and delivering seamless digital experiences.
  • Strong collaborator and leader.
  • Proven ability to undertake strategic analysis and present findings to key stakeholders.
  • Experience in customer experience mapping and user-centred design principles.
  • Knowledge of IT architecture, including web development, in a financial services environment.
  • Strong business acumen, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to influence at senior management level.
  • Effective cross-functional stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
