About Soul Forest
We are a business that transforms barren lands into biodiverse forests through an 80:20 model—80% nature reserve, 20% eco-sensitive living, wellness, and livelihoods. Our 250-acre pilot in Veltoor, Telangana is a living lab of restoration and regeneration. Founded by Earthshot Prize-winning climate entrepreneurs, Soul Forest aims to scale this model to 100,000 acres globally in the next decade.
As we prepare to scale, we are strengthening our Finance & Compliance backbone to be “always audit-ready” and “scale-ready”.
What’s the Role?
As Senior Manager – Finance, Accounts and Compliance at Soul Forest, you will own end-to-end accounting, tax, and compliance across our group entities. You will work deeply with organisational data to ensure zero non-compliance, robust documentation, and clean, investor-ready books.
You will coordinate closely with auditors and external consultants, review and refine legal and tax-related documents, and build systems that make the organisation ready for scale—across finance, tax, and regulatory requirements. This is a rounded finance leadership role for someone who wants to be both hands-on and strategic.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end accounts for all entities – bookkeeping, ledgers scrutiny, reconciliations, monthly closing, and finalisation of financial statements.
- Run tax and statutory compliances – Income tax (TDS, advance tax, returns, tax audit), basic GST coordination, and ensuring all filings are on time.
- Coordinate with auditors and consultants – be the single point of contact for statutory auditors, tax advisors, and compliance/legal consultants; close audits and queries on time.
- Review finance-related legal documents – contracts, leases, JV agreements, loan docs, and commercial agreements from a finance, tax, and compliance lens.
- Manage Treasury and MIS functions – oversee banking operations, cash flow planning, treasury management, and prepare timely MIS, budgets, and management reports.
- Build a clean compliance backbone – maintain trackers, registers, and a data room so the organisation is always due-diligence-ready with zero slippage.
- Strengthen systems and controls – set up simple, robust processes for approvals, documentation, and reporting to support scale-up.
Who We’re Looking For
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong, industry-backed hands-on experience in accounting, finalisation of books for companies and LLPs, along with expertise in MIS, budgeting, and other financial reporting.
- Solid working knowledge of income tax (incl. TDS, returns, tax audit) and exposure to GST and other compliances (via consultants is fine).
- Prior experience working with auditors, tax advisors, and compliance/legal consultants.
- Experience in managing banking relationships, cash flows, and treasury operations.
- Comfortable reviewing agreements from a finance and tax perspective.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and reliable with deadlines – nothing falls through the cracks.
- Active in the industry – keeps updated on tax, accounting, and regulatory changes and applies them in practice.
Who Should Skip This
This role is probably not for you if:
- You prefer only narrow accounting work and are not keen to handle compliance, documentation, and legal-finance interfaces.
- You are uncomfortable taking ownership and being accountable for “nothing slips” on compliances.
- You dislike working with auditors, consultants, or legal teams and avoid detailed documentation.
- You’re not actively updating yourself on changes in tax and accounting standards.
Why Work With Us?
- Be the Backbone: You will build and own the finance & compliance backbone of a pioneering, nature-led organisation.
- Scale with Purpose: Work at the intersection of finance, law, and climate action.
- High Exposure: Get direct exposure to founders, investors, advisors, and multi-entity structuring.
- Growth & Learning: Opportunity to grow as the organisation scales.
