Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our New York office. This leadership position involves managing a multidisciplinary team of engineers and overseeing all aspects of mechanical design and quality assurance for complex commercial, institutional, and mission-critical projects.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in mechanical systems, proven project management acumen, and a meticulous approach to quality control and compliance with national and local building codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical engineers and designers across multiple projects.
  • Review and approve mechanical drawings, specifications, and deliverables for quality, accuracy, and code compliance.
  • Conduct and manage Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews across all project phases.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and client communications to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, plumbing, and fire protection teams to ensure fully coordinated MEP designs.
  • Conduct site visits for field surveys, inspections, and coordination meetings.
  • Apply deep knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and International Building Codes to ensure design integrity.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and mechanical systems innovation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or QA/QC capacity.
  • Strong technical background in HVAC design, load calculations, equipment selection, and construction documentation.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license strongly preferred (multi-state licensure a plus).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required; familiarity with Bluebeam, Trace 3D+, and other design tools desirable.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s or relevant certifications such as LEED AP, CEM, or PMP preferred).
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
