Senior Mechanical Engineer – KnightHawk Engineering

Position Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and failure analysis of static and rotating equipment. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in challenging environments, enjoys hands-on problem-solving, and wants to work with some of the most complex engineering systems in the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute failure analysis, troubleshooting, and design of rotating and static equipment.
  • Perform numerical analysis, hand calculations, and advanced modeling in structural mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Apply expertise with CFD and FEA software tools, including Fluent, Abaqus, ANSYS, Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD, Mathcad, Matlab, and MS Office.
  • Develop numerical models of rotating shafts, rotors, and equipment components to predict performance, identify failures, and optimize designs.
  • Support and direct field testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting, correlating field data with numerical and analytical results.
  • Ensure all analysis and designs adhere to API, ASME, ASTM, and AISC Codes and other relevant industry standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with other engineers, providing technical leadership and mentorship where needed.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline with at least 8 years of relevant experience (MS degree holders with exceptional FEA/CFD expertise and extensive experience will also be considered).
  • Strong background in FEA, CFD, and machine design, with proven application in real-world projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in failure analysis, troubleshooting, and design of industrial equipment.
  • Formal training and hands-on experience in Finite Element Analysis required.
  • Ability to translate analytical findings into practical, real-world engineering solutions.
