The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing mechanical engineering design, coordination, implementation, and quality assurance throughout the lifecycle of major high-rise developments, ensuring compliance with local codes, international standards, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design development for HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for high-rise buildings.
  • Review and validate mechanical engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure mechanical designs meet local UAE regulations (DEWA, DM, ADDC, etc.), international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.), and sustainable building guidelines (LEED, Estidama).
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines to ensure seamless integration and avoid conflicts.
  • Manage the mechanical scope of work across multiple high-rise projects from concept to handover.
  • Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources for mechanical systems.
  • Monitor the progress of work on site and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure technical and contractual obligations are met.
  • Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure engineering standards and quality are maintained.
  • Evaluate and approve mechanical materials, equipment, and vendor submittals.
  • Supervise testing, commissioning, and snagging of mechanical systems.
  • Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers and CAD technicians.
  • Participate in regular coordination and progress meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Provide technical input during value engineering and risk assessment workshops.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CEng, PE) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in the UAE working on high-rise residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems in high-rise construction.
  • Proven experience with MEP coordination and BIM (Revit MEP proficiency is a plus).
  • Excellent knowledge of local UAE authority requirements and submission processes.
  • Ability to lead design and site teams independently.
  • Experience working with tier-1 contractors, consultants, or developers in the GCC.
