About the Role:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at TAI, you will serve as a technical leader and Subject Matter Expert, driving the design and execution of complex projects within the high-stakes Life Sciences sector. Moving beyond day-to-day drafting, you will focus on high-level project leadership; directing multidisciplinary teams, managing project lifecycles from scope to completion, and ensuring the technical integrity of innovative HVAC and mechanical systems. Here’s a glimpse into your day to day:

Individuals in this position are responsible for planning, organizing, and successfully completing multiple engineering projects with minimal direction and supervision.

As a Sr. Engineer, you will be expected to successfully lead medium and large design projects with the assistance of a team of engineers and designers.

This position receives general administrative direction from the Mechanical Division Manager and technical support and training from the Chief Engineer.

The expectation is that minimal CAD design and drafting is performed in this position, and design direction is provided to other engineers and designers.

Leading multiple mid-size and large design projects.
-
Directing other engineers and designers for preparation of drawings and reports.
-
Managing scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects.
-
Functioning as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various projects and teams.
-
Collaborating and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
-
Researching applicable codes and industry standards.
-
Interpreting codes and collaborating with other design professionals as needed.
-
Preparing engineering analysis and reports, including conditions assessment.
-
Preparing advanced engineering calculations and reviewing calculations prepared by others.
-
Overseeing development of preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
-
Creating engineering specifications and controls sequences with support from Chief Engineer.

Performing design quality control, monitoring progress, and notifying managers of scope changes.
You’ll be a perfect fit if you have:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering.

Professional Engineering Licensure or the ability to obtain a PE.
-
LEED accreditation is preferred.

Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering design experience on relevant projects. Applicable design experience includes creating construction documents for HVAC air side, HVAC water side, plumbing, and fire protection systems, with significant expertise in at least two of these areas.

Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience supporting engineering design projects within the Life Sciences industry.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in preparing engineering calculations, such as heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation rate procedure, hydronic piping calculations, fire pump sizing, etc.

Minimum 5 years of experience collaborating with vendors for major equipment selections, such as air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, fire pumps, etc.

Minimum 2 years of experience leading engineers and designers for creation of drawings and performing engineering calculations.

Ability to perform field work that will include walking, kneeling, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and/or ladders.

Willingness to travel to client sites.

Willingness to work in the office at least two days per week.

Willingness to mentor and train others.

Willingness to work in a team environment.

Ability to gather and organize information and documentation.

Ability to multitask.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive work attitude, and willingness to learn new skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay: $120,000-155,000 annually (Based upon experience)
