About Tiberius Aerospace

Tiberius Aerospace is a cutting-edge Aerospace and Defense company committed to delivering innovative, secure, and compliant solutions for our customers. We specialize in mission-critical technology services for government and private sector customers, ensuring excellence in aerospace systems design, performance, and compliance.

Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will own design and/or analysis projects for missile and high-G artillery systems. This role requires a proven track record of independently designing, analyzing, and/or validating mechanical systems under extreme conditions. You’ll provide technical leadership in design reviews, guide junior staff where applicable, and serve as the subject matter expert for mechanical system considerations.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design and/or analysis of mechanical components, housings, and assemblies for aerospace/defense applications subject to extreme G-loads or other harsh environments, focusing on robust and manufacturable solutions.
  • Develop and optimize mechanical systems, including structural airframes, mechanisms, aerodynamic surfaces and actuators.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T documentation meeting ASME and DoD requirements.
  • Material Selection for hardware with suitable properties for high G and high speed applications, considering factors like strength, toughness, and environmental resistance.
  • Perform stress, vibration, and shock analyses using FEA and analytical methods to ensure design integrity and performance under extreme conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with GNC, electronics, and thermal engineers for seamless system-level integration and optimal mechanical interface design.
  • Oversee prototype fabrication, environmental qualification testing, and artillery launch campaigns, incorporating lessons learned into design iterations.
  • Improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness through manufacturing process optimization practices.
  • Conduct comprehensive design reviews, mentor junior mechanical designers/engineers, and provide subject matter expertise in mechanical engineering design principles.
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR, ISO 9001, MIL-STD-810, and other relevant aerospace/defense design and testing standards.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 4+ years in Aerospace and defense, demonstrating a strong portfolio of successful designs.
  • High proficiency in CAD/PLM tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX, etc.) for complex mechanical design and assembly.
  • Strong foundation in structural mechanics, materials science, fatigue analysis, and thermal considerations, applied to real-world mechanical design challenges.
  • Track record of end-to-end ownership of mechanical designs from concept through detailed design, production, and test.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with shock and vibration hardening, ruggedized packaging design, and survivability engineering for extreme mechanical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with artillery-fired systems, guided munitions, missile systems, or seeker housings, including knowledge of relevant mechanical design challenges.
  • Familiarity with dampening systems, shock mitigation strategies, and advanced materials for high-G applications.
  • Background working with DoD clients, ITAR projects, or defense primes with a strong understanding of relevant mechanical design specifications.
  • Ability to thrive in a start-up/rapid prototyping culture while maintaining discipline in engineering rigor and mechanical design best practices.

How WE Support You

  • Competitive salary and benefits package to include 401(k)
  • Flexible time off, sick time, holidays and more
  • Remote working culture with hybrid requirements for lab work
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Support for professional growth and career development
  • Work with a dynamic and passionate team of professionals
