About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Medical Billing Manager / Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Supervisor to oversee all aspects of the medical billing and revenue cycle operations for a growing U.S.-based Rheumatology practice.
This is a senior leadership position requiring end-to-end ownership of the Revenue Cycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising billing staff, maximizing collections, reducing denials, improving workflows, ensuring compliance, and implementing industry best practices across all billing operations.
The Billing Manager will be expected to act as the operational owner of the Revenue Cycle, continuously evaluating processes and implementing best-in-class workflows, automation, and technology solutions to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the complete Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) process.
- Supervise, take complete ownership of Prior Authorizations
- Implement advance eligibility verification workflow
- Oversee claim creation, review, and submission.
- Monitor claim rejections and denials and ensure timely resolution.
- Manage insurance follow-up and Accounts Receivable (AR) recovery efforts.
- Supervise payment posting and reconciliation processes.
- Handle patient billing concerns, grievances, and inquiries professionally.
- Review billing performance metrics and prepare management reports.
- Train, mentor, supervise, and evaluate billing staff.
- Coordinate with providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to resolve billing-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct weekly and monthly audits of billing operations, claim submissions, payment posting, AR follow-up, and denial management processes to ensure accuracy and a foolproof workflow.
- Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, and revenue leakage opportunities, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Research, recommend, and implement modern electronic workflows, automation tools, and industry best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and collections.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to reduce manual work and optimize productivity.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and present regular performance reports and recommendations to management.
- Maintain accountability for quality assurance and ensure all team members consistently adhere to established workflows and performance standards.
- Take ownership of practice revenue performance and billing operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on U.S. medical billing and Revenue Cycle Management experience.
- Minimum education: Graduation
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience in medical billing.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Claims submission
- Denial management
- Accounts Receivable (AR) follow-up
- Payment posting
- Insurance eligibility and benefits verification
- Prior authorizations
- Revenue Cycle Management workflows
- Experience with Tebra billing software is required.
- Experience with Buy-and-Bill billing models.
- Experience billing specialty medications, biologic injections, infusions, and chemotherapy administration.
- Experience handling patient billing inquiries, complaints, and customer service matters.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- High level of accountability, attention to detail, and ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Rheumatology, Infusion Center, Oncology, or Specialty Practice billing experience.
- CPC, CPB, or equivalent medical billing certification.
- Experience managing remote teams.
- Experience implementing workflow automation and process improvement initiatives.
