Summary:
Nice North America runs a highly customized NetSuite OneWorld environment supporting three subsidiaries across finance, operations, manufacturing, and customer experience. After 10+ years of organic growth and layered customizations, we need someone who can stabilize, simplify, and modernize this platform over the next 24 months.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role—not a ticket queue. You'll be the primary technical authority for NetSuite, partnering directly with the Director of Enterprise Applications to own the platform's future. If you're motivated by untangling complexity, retiring technical debt, and building durable architecture, this is the role.
The current environment includes a significant legacy SuiteScript 1.0 footprint and lacks formal SDF-based development and structured source control. This role will play a key part in modernizing development practices while stabilizing and simplifying a highly customized, business-critical platform.
Location: 5919 Sea Otter Place, Suite 100, Carlsbad, CA 92010
Salary range: $150,000 to $180,000 annually, depending on experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical authority for NetSuite design, customization, and development standards
- Lead NetSuite development initiatives, acting as the primary developer with daily hands-on coding responsibilities
- Govern third-party developers and vendor implementations to ensure quality and maintainability
- Establish architecture standards aligned with long-term platform strategy
- Audit and disposition the existing SuiteScript 1.0 codebase—retire, refactor, or replace
- Migrate customizations to SuiteScript 2.x or return functionality to native NetSuite where possible
- Resolve systemic performance, governance, and stability issues
- Maintain thorough documentation throughout the process to ensure knowledge is captured and easily transferable.
- Implement SDF-based development practices and establish formal source control processes
- Establish release governance, deployment discipline, and testing rigor
- Develop a scalable and repeatable development lifecycle that ensures continuity independent of individual contributors.
- Own integration architecture across RF-SMART, Freight Pop, Avalara, Orderful, Ramp, and Contivio
- Ensure transactional design supports accurate reporting through Incorta and NSPB
- Partner with Finance and Operations on planning, MRP, and FP&A alignment
- Drive automation and efficiency improvements across the business
- Lead AI-enabled initiatives targeting AR collections, sales order processing, and case management
- Ensure innovation efforts are aligned to strategic goals and produce tangible business impact
- Implement and maintain departmental development policies, standards, and best practices
- Understand, support and execute all work according to the established procedures of the organization
- Project based assignments as requested
What Success Looks Like (12-24 Months):
- Substantially reduce the existing SuiteScript 1.0 footprint through retirement, refactoring, or migration to SuiteScript 2.x and native NetSuite functionality where appropriate.
- Implement SuiteCloud Development Framework (SDF) and formal source control processes with documented release and deployment standards.
- Improve overall platform stability, performance, and governance through structured remediation and modernization efforts.
- Ensure remaining customizations are intentional, documented, and aligned with long-term platform strategy.
- Deliver measurable automation improvements supporting Finance and Operations workflows.
