Senior Network & Systems Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of facilities-based systems across the organization, including surveillance, door control, building automation, and telecommunications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in network and server support, strong troubleshooting skills, and hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler, and enterprise IT infrastructure.

This is a senior, hands-on role that requires independent work at secure sites, frequent day travel, and adaptability to manage complex infrastructure environments across nearly 200 statewide locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, install, configure, and maintain surveillance, telecommunications, and building automation systems.
• Provide support for desktop PCs, servers, network devices, and storage solutions.
• Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot state-wide networks, including firewall filtering with Palo Alto and Zscaler solutions.
• Create and update detailed system documentation, project tracking, and management reports.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide both tactical and strategic input for systems planning and related projects.
• Ensure compliance, reliability, and performance across multiple secure and non-secure sites.
• Demonstrate creativity, problem-solving, and improvisational skills to resolve complex technical issues independently.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, network, or systems engineering.
• Strong expertise in telecommunications, surveillance systems, and server support.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Zscaler security solutions.
• Proven troubleshooting skills in complex IT environments.
• Ability to produce clear, detailed documentation and maintain accurate records.
• Strong adaptability, creativity, and problem-solving mindset.
• Willingness to travel statewide; long working days may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with building automation and security access systems.
• Prior work supporting multi-location or government/secure environments.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Palo Alto PCNSE, CCNP, CompTIA Security+).

Pay: $40.00 - $44.00 per hour
