Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator with strong hands-on experience in managing Oracle databases (19c) within the Banking domain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of mission-critical database environments while providing SME-level support and continuously improving database operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Oracle database installations, upgrades, and patching across environments.
  • Monitor and tune database performance to meet SLA and business requirements.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis, especially on Oracle 19c.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database structures aligned with business needs.
  • Configure and manage RMAN backups, restore strategies, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Implement and support Data Guard and Data Guard Broker for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Perform data recovery operations and manage Flash Recovery Area (FRA) usage effectively.
  • Ensure database security through password policies, encryption, access controls, and firewall configurations.
  • Monitor application-to-database interactions to ensure optimal performance and error-free execution.
  • Manage database replication and configure client connectivity as required.
  • Monitor system and database resource utilization to proactively prevent performance degradation.
  • Perform manual backups to external storage when required (tape/optical devices).
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database design, development, and maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support deployments and releases.
  • Provide SME-level support during critical incidents, audits, and escalations.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database Administration (19c).
  • In-depth knowledge of:
  • Oracle performance tuning and monitoring
  • RMAN backup and recovery
  • Data Guard & Data Guard Broker
  • Flash Recovery Area (FRA)
  • Good understanding of Linux server administration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Shell scripting and PL/SQL scripting.
  • Experience with DevOps build tools, particularly Azure Pipelines, in conjunction with Oracle deployments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds DPA, Redgate Monitor, and Dynatrace is an added advantage.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or Perl is a plus.
