Senior Partner - Law Firm

The Senior Partner is a cornerstone of the firm’s leadership, responsible for driving high-value legal strategy, managing key institutional relationships, and contributing to the firm's commercial growth. This role requires an elite practitioner with a formidable reputation in the Middle East legal market. You will lead complex, high-stakes mandates while mentoring the next generation of legal talent and ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of Qatar's evolving regulatory and legislative landscape.

Key Responsibilities

1. Practice Leadership & High-Stakes Mandates

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of premium legal services in specialist areas such as Construction & Infrastructure, Arbitration, Energy (Oil & Gas), or Corporate/M&A.
  • Act as the lead counsel on multi-jurisdictional disputes or complex transactional matters, providing "board-level" strategic advice to clients.
  • Ensure the highest standards of legal technical excellence and quality control across all work products within the practice group.

2. Business Development & Client Relationship Management

  • Leverage an established professional network to originate new business and expand the firm’s "book of business."
  • Deepen relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, sovereign wealth funds (QIA), and multinational corporations.
  • Develop and execute a strategic market-entry or expansion plan for specific practice areas in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.

3. Strategic Mentorship & Talent Development

  • Provide high-level mentorship to Junior Partners, Counsel, and Associates, fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth.
  • Identify and recruit top-tier legal talent to strengthen the firm’s competitive position in the GCC.
  • Lead internal knowledge-sharing initiatives to stay ahead of regional legal trends and digital transformation in law.

4. Governance & Firm Strategy

  • Contribute to the firm’s executive decision-making process, including financial planning, risk management, and expansion strategies.
  • Ensure the firm’s operations comply with the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) or the Ministry of Justice standards.
  • Represent the firm at international legal conferences, industry forums, and in high-level media engagements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 15+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with at least 5 years as a Partner in a reputable international or top-tier regional law firm.
  • Education: LL.M. or Juris Doctor (JD) from a recognized university. Active license to practice law in a major jurisdiction (e.g., UK, US, Australia, or Qatar).
  • Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of English Common Law (for QFC) or Civil Law systems as applied in the GCC.
  • Reputation: A proven track record of successful high-value case outcomes or major deal closures.
  • Language: Native or professional fluency in English. Arabic proficiency is highly advantageous for onshore litigation and government relations.
  • Commercial Acumen: Exceptional ability to balance legal risk with client commercial objectives.

Success Metrics

  • Revenue Generation: Achievement of individual and practice-group fee-earning and origination targets.
  • Client Retention: Maintaining a high net-promoter score among the firm’s most significant clients.
  • Succession Readiness: Measurable growth and promotion of junior fee-earners under your mentorship.

Pay: QAR375.00 - QAR560.00 per hour
