Senior Pharmacy Technician: Clinical Coordinator

Overview
The Clinical Care Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting patient care within our Long-Term Care pharmacy operations. This position serves as a primary liaison between patients, group homes, healthcare providers, and internal pharmacy teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong work ethics, integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to perform accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role requires a high level of ownership, accountability, and collaboration to ensure safe, timely, and compliant medication services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Duties

  • Enter new and refill prescriptions into the pharmacy operating system accurately and promptly to eliminate dispensing errors
  • Maintain accurate patient profiles, pharmacy records, and cycle medication documentation
  • Learn and manage cycle medication processes to meet delivery deadlines
  • Process cycle medication renewals, new cycle orders, and refill requests as applicable
  • Package medications accurately and efficiently using various packaging systems
  • Troubleshoot and update pharmacy software as needed
  • Collaborate with Long-Term Care and Delivery Driver staff to ensure timely and accurate prescription delivery
  • Monitor inventory, identify outdated medications, and communicate shortages to inventory staff

Customer Service & Communication

  • Answer incoming calls and demonstrate caring, understanding, and courtesy when assisting customers
  • Route calls appropriately to ensure high-quality service
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for group homes and patients
  • Communicate with LTC nursing staff or prescriber offices to clarify orders or resolve discrepancies
  • Support new facility onboarding and system updates
  • Explain pharmacy policies, procedures, and services clearly and professionally
  • Communicate daily work progress with internal teams

Quality, Compliance & Teamwork

  • Adhere to all company policies, legal regulations, and pharmacy standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment
  • Support organizational objectives and promote a collaborative, team-oriented culture
  • Actively seek out potential errors, question inaccuracies, and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration required
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2+ years of related experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience)
  • Prior pharmacy order entry and long-term care experience strongly preferred

Work Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Monday–Friday with rotating Saturday shifts
  • Occasionally early start or late finish based on pharmacy needs
  • Ability to stand and walk 7–8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically
  • Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
