Senior PHP Developer

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior PHP Developer to take ownership of backend development and support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable web applications. This role is suited for someone with strong PHP experience who can work independently, guide junior developers, and contribute to system architecture, performance, and security.

You will work closely with frontend developers, product stakeholders, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain PHP-based backend systems and APIs
• Build and optimize REST APIs and integrate third-party services
• Work with MySQL and PostgreSQL, including query optimization and schema design
• Ensure application security, performance, and scalability
• Review code, enforce best practices, and mentor junior developers
• Collaborate with frontend teams on API contracts and integrations
• Manage deployments and support applications on Linux/Ubuntu servers
• Handle basic server tasks including Nginx, SSL, cron jobs, permissions, and logs
• Participate in system design, debugging, and production issue resolution
• Maintain proper documentation and version control using Git

Requirements

• 3–6+ years of professional PHP development experience
• Strong command of core PHP and at least one PHP framework (Laravel preferred)
• Solid understanding of HTTP, authentication, sessions, and security best practices
• Hands-on experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade APIs
• Comfortable working in Linux/Ubuntu environments
• Good understanding of Git workflows, debugging, and testing
• Ability to work independently and take technical ownership
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
