Salary Range: $95,000.00 to $115,000.00 Annually. Salary will be dependent upon experience.
Locations: Colorado Springs, Denver, Phoenix, San Antonio or Remote.
Job Summary:
Matrix Design Group seeks an experienced Senior Planner capable of leading complex planning projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and supporting both community and military compatibility planning. The Senior Planner will manage project scope, schedule, budget, public engagement, and technical planning tasks while contributing to business development and client relationships.
Essential Functions:

Lead/manage planning projects including scope, schedule, budget, and staff.

Direct and supervise junior and intermediate planners.

Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to obtain project requirements and approvals.

Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects; demonstrates the ability to readily identify potential problems and responsive solutions on a project.

Highly effective in building and maintaining client relationships.

Manage and organize public consultation programs, including making recommendations for key findings to the client.

Provide mentorship to junior and intermediate level planners, including career development recommendations.

Prepare and present proposals to potential clients and assist with proposal development.

Prepare technical documents, presentations, and other related planning products.

Meet with clients and their representatives as an individual or part of a team to explain details, resolve issues, answer questions, develop strategies / solutions to planning issues and maintain positive relationships.
Competencies:

Excellent written and verbal communications skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and projects.

Proficient in computer applications such as MS Office Suite (Office 365), including the use of styles in Word, advanced Excel, and advanced PowerPoint skill sets.

Ability to apply graphic and mapping techniques as well as emerging technologies to compatibility planning products to create user-friendly and easy to read products, to include infographics and ArcGIS Story Maps.

Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze and distill new data or unfamiliar information to support informed decision-making or recommendations.

Knowledge of land use theory, current planning trends, smart growth techniques, economics, finance operations, land use law, demographics, environmental design, resources development, and ecology.

Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve ambiguous planning problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in community / urban planning or related field required .

Minimum of eight (8) years planning experience, showing progressive increase in responsibilities.

Extensive experience in community planning, compatibility planning, redevelopment planning, land use or zoning, community facilitation, military facility planning, or military programming.

AICP certification preferred or ability to acquire within 1 year of employment.

Valid driver's license, in conjunction with successfully passing the Company’s MVR.
