Job Purpose:
The Planning Engineer is responsible for effective project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring to ensure timely and efficient project delivery. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within approved scope, budget, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project schedules using appropriate planning software.
- Monitor, update, and analyse schedules based on actual site progress.
- Identify critical path activities and potential delays.
- Ensure schedules align with overall project objectives.
Resource Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement and project teams to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Support efficient allocation of resources to meet project milestones.
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks affecting project timelines.
- Propose and implement mitigation measures to minimize delays.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare regular progress reports for project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project schedules, plans, and related documentation.
Change Management
- Assess schedule and cost impacts of scope changes.
- Support project managers in evaluating and implementing change requests.
Quality & Safety Alignment
- Ensure planning activities align with quality standards and safety requirements.
- Support quality control teams in monitoring and reporting performance indicators.
Cost Control
- Collaborate with the finance team to monitor project costs.
- Assist with cost forecasting and budget tracking.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay informed of industry best practices, tools, and emerging technologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes and project execution efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications/Education:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum Experience:
- at least 5-7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably in the construction industry.
Technical KSAs/Certifications, etc.:
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
