Job Overview


Gemcorp is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to lead and optimise our group-wide direct procurement, focusing on supplier cost savings, process efficiency, and strategic sourcing.

This is a greenfield role and will collaborate closely with the Procurement Manager align best practices with system-driven efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have experience across a variety of industries, with expertise in managing diverse direct spend categories (Equipment, pharmaceutical goods...). They should have a strong track record in cost-saving initiatives, strategic supplier management, and ensuring compliance and process optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management


  • Develop and execute category strategies for key direct spend areas, ensuring alignment with business goals and requirements
  • Analyse spending patterns and identify opportunities for cost reductions, efficiency improvements, and supplier consolidation
  • Drive supplier negotiations to secure favourable terms, pricing structures, and service levels.

2. Supplier Management & Cost Savings Initiatives


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors
  • Develop supplier performance metrics and manage supplier KPIs, SLAs, and risk assessments
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service levels
  • Work with business functions to rationalise supplier base and drive value-added partnerships
  • Lead contract negotiations and renewals, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance.

3. Procurement Operations & Process Improvement


  • Collaborate with the Senior Procurement Systems & Process Manager to improve P2P (procure-to-pay) processes, procurement tools, and system automation for the group

  • Ensure purchasing policies and procedures align with compliance, risk management, and financial control requirements
  • Work with internal stakeholders to improve demand planning and cost control measures.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, IT and other business functions to align procurement strategies with operational needs
  • Work closely with IT and the procurement systems team to ensure procurement automation and digital tools enhance sourcing activities
  • Lead procurement-related training for internal stakeholders to promote strategic sourcing and cost-conscious purchasing behaviours.

5. Risk & Compliance Management


  • Ensure direct procurement activities align with company policies, regulatory standards, and ethical sourcing principles
  • Conduct risk assessments for critical suppliers and implement contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure contractual agreements are robust and risk is minimised.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in direct procurement across multiple companies, with exposure to multiple categories e.g. IT, professional services, marketing, HR, facilities etc.
  • Proven track record of cost savings, supplier negotiations, and strategic sourcing
  • Experience in contract management, supplier evaluation, and procurement analytics
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Familiarity with procurement automation tools and ERP systems like Microsoft Business Central
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders in Finance, Operations, IT, and other departments.

Preferred:


  • Professional certifications (CIPS, CPSM, PMP, or Six Sigma)
  • Knowledge of procurement digitalisation, AI-driven sourcing, and sustainability / ESG initiatives
  • Experience implementing category management strategies for global or multi-site procurement operations
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other procurement analytics tools.
