Job Purpose:
To lead and manage fabrication production activities in the workshop, ensuring efficient planning, quality output, timely delivery, and optimal utilization of resources for steel structure and PEB projects.
Key Responsibilities:1. Production Planning & Control
- Plan and manage daily, weekly, and monthly fabrication schedules.
- Coordinate with planning/project teams to meet project timelines.
- Monitor production targets and ensure on-time delivery of fabricated materials.
- Prepare production reports and track progress against schedules.
2. Workshop Management
- Supervise fabrication activities including cutting, welding, assembly, and finishing.
- Ensure proper allocation of manpower, machines, and materials.
- Optimize workflow and improve productivity within the workshop.
3. Technical Coordination
- Review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and cutting lists before production.
- Coordinate with design and detailing teams for technical clarifications.
- Ensure accurate implementation of fabrication requirements as per drawings.
4. Quality Control
- Ensure fabrication works comply with QA/QC standards and specifications.
- Coordinate inspections with QA/QC team at different stages of production.
- Monitor welding quality, dimensional accuracy, and finishing standards.
5. Material & Resource Management
- Coordinate with procurement/store team for material availability.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished goods.
6. HSE Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and workshop safety standards.
- Monitor safe operation of machinery and equipment.
- Promote a safe working culture within the workshop.
7. Coordination with Site & Dispatch
- Coordinate with site teams for priority requirements and dispatch schedules.
- Ensure timely delivery of fabricated materials to project sites.
- Monitor loading, packing, and dispatch activities.
8. Team Leadership
- Lead and manage supervisors, foremen, and fabrication workforce.
- Train and guide team members to improve efficiency and quality.
- Ensure discipline and productivity in the workshop.
9. Continuous Improvement
- Identify areas for process improvement and cost optimization.
- Implement best practices to enhance production efficiency.
- Support automation and productivity enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6–10 years of experience in steel fabrication / PEB industry.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Fabrication processes (cutting, welding, assembly)
- Structural steel drawings and shop drawings
- Production planning and scheduling
- Experience in workshop management and team handling.
- Familiarity with QA/QC standards and inspection procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
