Senior Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Management

· Develop comprehensive project execution plans, including scope, schedule, cost estimates, and resource allocation specific to electrical works.

· Establish project milestones, KPIs, and quality benchmarks.

· Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

· Coordinate with project teams to integrate electrical activities into overall project timelines.

2. Design Review & Technical Oversight

· Review electrical design drawings, schematics, and technical specifications prepared by consultants or in-house teams.

· Ensure designs comply with local electrical codes, international standards (e.g., IEC, NEC), and client requirements.

· Conduct value engineering sessions to optimize electrical systems for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

· Review shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals.

3. Procurement & Material Management

· Assist in sourcing electrical equipment, materials, and services.

· Review documentation, including technical specifications, RFQs, and purchase orders.

· Monitor delivery schedules and ensure timely availability of materials on-site.

4. Construction & Site Supervision

· Supervise electrical installation activities, ensuring compliance with design, safety, and quality standards.

· Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, and other disciplines for smooth execution.

· Conduct site inspections and audits to verify workmanship and safety adherence.

· Troubleshoot on-site technical issues and implement corrective actions.

5. Quality Assurance & Safety

· Ensure all electrical works meet safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, local safety codes).

· Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.

· Implement quality control procedures and conduct inspections to maintain high standards.

6. Project Monitoring & Reporting

· Track progress against project schedules and budgets.

· Prepare detailed progress reports, technical reports, and project documentation.

· Manage changes and variations in scope, including change orders and RFIs.

· Communicate project status, technical challenges, and risks to stakeholders.

7. Team Leadership & Development

· Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.

· Assign tasks, review work, and provide technical guidance.

· Foster teamwork, safety culture, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

· Experience: Minimum 8-12 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within the construction industry only, with a track record of managing large-scale projects.

· Technical Knowledge:

o In-depth understanding of electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and automation systems.

o Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, Revit).

o Knowledge of local and international electrical standards and codes.

· Project Management Skills: Proficiency in project planning tools (MS Project, Primavera), cost control, and scheduling.

· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to coordinate with diverse teams and clients.

· Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership qualities, team management, and problem-solving abilities.

· Certification: Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Electrical Engineer, or equivalent preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

· Primarily site-based visting multiple sites.

· Ability to work in construction environments, sometimes in challenging conditions.

· Flexibility to work extended hours to meet project deadlines.
