JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing the full purchase order lifecycle while also contributing to long-range purchasing strategies that support product availability and business needs. This role serves as the primary point of contact for vendors, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and issue resolution across all assigned orders. Additionally, the Senior Purchasing Agent maintains reporting accuracy, investigates discrepancies, and partners with internal teams to support inbound logistics, inventory balance, and delivery prioritization.

In addition to core purchasing responsibilities, this role provides expanded strategic support by developing special buying programs, collaborating on new product introductions sourced domestically, and partnering cross-functionally to address internal requisition concerns. The Senior Purchasing Agent is expected to elevate purchasing execution through expert judgment, advanced systems proficiency, and the ability to balance cost, quality, and service expectations within a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the complete purchase order process with a high level of accuracy, ownership, and accountability from creation through delivery.
  • Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships through timely communication, issue escalation, and performance follow-up.
  • Monitor, maintain, and distribute the weekly Work-in-Progress (WIP) report, investigating and communicating delays or discrepancies.
  • Research, track, and resolve purchase order variances involving cost, quantity, delivery, or material issues.
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate long-term buying strategies and special purchasing programs that support cost, timeline, and inventory optimization.
  • Partner with traffic and logistics teams to prioritize shipments, support expediting needs, and ensure delivery alignment to business timelines.
  • Update and distribute the in-stock tracking report with accurate insights and clear, actionable commentary.
  • Notify customer service teams of orders requiring updates, rescheduling, or communication timing changes.
  • Collaborate with merchandising teams on domestically-sourced product introductions and related purchasing setup activities.
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve internal requisition needs, clarify purchasing requirements, and support inventory planning strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Merchandising, or related field preferred.


Experience
4 to 6 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles, ideally within fashion, apparel, textile, or manufacturing environments.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of purchase order management workflows, vendor communication, and inventory control.
  • Understanding of apparel manufacturing, materials, sourcing requirements, and domestically sourced product setup.
  • Strong familiarity with supply chain concepts including forecasting, lead times, logistics, and capacity planning.
